I've been informed that Ian Guild has died. He was on TOP as Eurocontrol? He and I have been friends on FB for some years and I knew he'd been in and out of the hospital for the past year or so. He'd posted on FB that he was awaiting to go back to the hospital on Monday past, that was last Saturday. He didn't show up at the hospital, and he was found at home on Tuesday. Apparently he'd died on Sunday some time.
Rip Ian.

Remember reading some of his stuff and although he and I never corresponded he seemed like a decent cove. Sad to hear when a chap books into the departure lounge, all alone.

Not found in rigor mortis while in flagrante delicto in a Nazi themed orgy I hope?

The sins of the fathers should not be heaped on the sons, I guess, and he did do some good for safety in the motor racing world I guess. A divisive character with a bad surname to have in Britain, that's for sure.
The former Formula One president Max Mosley has died at the age of 81. Mosley, who began his career in motor racing as an amateur driver, was an outspoken president of the FIA, the sport’s governing body. He became FIA president in 1993 after serving in previous administrative roles in motor sport, including within Formula One. He served three terms as president before standing down in 2009.

After 2008, when stories about his sex life appeared in the British press, along with unfounded allegations regarding Nazi connotations, he became a high-profile campaigner for strict press controls.

Bernie Ecclestone, former CEO of the Formula One group and Mosley’s former business partner, confirmed the news to BBC Sport. “It’s like losing family, like losing a brother, Max and I,” he said. “He did a lot of good things not just for motorsport, also the [car] industry. He was very good in making sure people built cars that were safe.”

Mosley was the youngest son of Oswald Mosley, former leader of the British Union of Fascists, and Diana Mitford.

I hadn't realised that he had received this award...
He received many government and industry awards, most notably the National de la Légion d'Honneur' in 2006, in recognition of his contribution to road safety and motorsport.

I always found his mother and aunts fascinating...

Just listened to the Desert Island Disks interview with Diana Mosley. Quite extraordinary in way, that somebody, so apparently cultured, so educated, so refined even, could be so bloody wrong!

Maybe a friend of Wods? Who knows. Strange bedfellows, as they say.

Limeygal is in Florida won't be back here, Worrals hasn't even checked in for years. I see Octopussy looking in from time to time but she doesn't post.
I have intermittent email contact with LG.

I’d been wondering about his absence as well, especially with the ongoing Yorkshire Cricket saga. :-?

On a lighter note Ian Botham claimed that Gowers packing list for an Australian tour was- corkscrew and a spare corkscrew :D

Not logged on since 27th October, a long absence considering he was almost daily.

Indeed. And he was a 16th entry Boy Entrant which would make him seven years older than me so he would be in his mid 80s.
