I think stoneboat has email contact with Fox3. They don't live too far form each other (no, not walking distance, but in Canada 500 km is considered practically "next door").

PN has been adrift for a couple of weeks. I hope he is well.

It's still too long for a prolific poster but it's actually 21st January - 16 days

I had a wonder if he had gone on a cruise - they have started again.

I've seen a gadget that monitors whether ancient wrinkly alone-dwellers have, eg, made a cup of tea or turned the electric blanket on in the past 24 hours, and if not, help is summoned. Perhaps in her cleverness Alison could install similar software here, so if within 24 hours I fail to mention my weather at 07:00, or the Ascots fail to provide a bat count, or BM doesn't post a link to some chappie telling us of a plot to kill us all, or TGG fails to post a music video, or UP denounce the Sturgeon Lady..... well an Enquiry is made and Help summoned. Or is this a mad idea?

No, I think it would enhance the site.

I am now divorced and the kids have scattered in the wind.Having taking on a new pup I worry about falling off my perch and the pup is free to feast off my bits.I do warn the kids that one of them will eventually find a maggot infested lump of meat if they don't keep in touch every few days.Am I being too dramatic ?

I get that every weekend when my father forgets to call me. Did he just forget or is he unable to do it. He said he does talk on the phone with my sister every day so I assume she'd call me if something happened. I don't tend to call him because it costs money, whereas I set things up so he can call me for free. If it goes too long then I will call him to check.

I don't know if it is possible, but it's a good idea.

For someone like me if I were living here alone our cleaner would be my nearest permanent neighbour.
Most houses around me are holiday homes. they are all foreign owned now. All our English friends have either sold up or died.

If SM died I think I would sell up and go back to the UK to somewhere where I had neighbours who would notice if anything happened to me.
Current thinking anyway

Morbid and boring.

k3k3 - having brought the good news of PN's continuing residence in this world, can you cast any light on the silence and when we might expect a return to the entertaining and challenging malapropism?

Yes, I miss the spulling and his penchant for Mrs Malaprop too! He didn't strike me as a sensitive soul. Besides he was our resident navigation expert and his comments on aviation were always interesting to me anyway.

Come back PN!

Agree whole heartedly.

I knew of a person who lived alone an a very small country town not far from here. No-one checked on him, and he was largely left to his own devices.

Then one day a local on their semi-regular morning walk noticed a particularly foul odour as he passed the house! :ymsick:

"Nuff said.

Similar to a retired colleague of mine, a quiet chap, he lived alone after his wife died, then one day the free weekly newspaper deliverer noticed the smell and called the police. They found him in his armchair in front of the TV. Going by the amount of post and newspapers behind the door he had probably exited three or four weeks earlier.

Fitting an 'odour detector' to the forum would tax most of us. :))
