Re: Birthdays
Thanks for your good wishes kind folk!
One is preparing a Lebanese evening this evening, Houmous and pitta to start, roast rack of lamb with roasted veggies and baklava for dessert. But the piece de resistance is a bottle of Chateau Musar from the Bekaa Valley, with which to help it all down.
Why Lebanese? I hear you ask. Does Tango have Arabic blood in his veins? Well, not as far as I know, but having been born in Liverpool, one can never be sure!
It's just an homage to times past and the days when there was fun to be had in Beirut (mid 60s - early 1970s). The Phoenicia Hotel, the crew stopover hotel of choice, with the enormous glass-sided swimming pool which overlooked the bar and the George V, for when you got bored with the Phoenicia. Bars and restaurants too numerous to mention and a great international crowd.
Dubai tried to take over the mantle, and succeeded in the early days, but nowadays to me at least, it's just Las Vegas by the sea.

Re: Birthdays
A belated thank you to all for my birthday wishes. Birthdays were never my strong point and I think the latest lockdown plus actually having Covid has made that apathy worse. We are both recovering however, and appreciative of the good wishes.

Rock steady man and lady...
Though you remain
Convinced

You must have somewhere
To go
Your destination remains
Elusive."

Re: Birthdays
I note from the Index page that it's Limey Gal's birthday today but she hasn't been seen here for some time I think.
Happies to her if she's lurking somewhere.

Re: Birthdays
*Limey Gal* is fine and thanks all for the wishes. She reports a torrid year but still drinks and is settling with a stiff red.
It is freezing in FLA.
