Many thanks for all the good wishes. I'm having a quiet day (are there any other sorts?) and am off to sort out an 83 year old neighbour's computer where his life's work - a 785 page "Encyclopaedia of Sailing" - is in danger of being lost and he can't find his backup copy.
Today, Wednesday, is another anniversary up here - the 103rd anniversary of the loss of HMS Hampshire and 737 men (including Lord Kitchener) close to the Orkney coast. There will be an informal gathering at 8.30pm by the Kitchener Memorial to share thoughts and reflect, with a two-minute silence at 8.45pm.

My son's birthday today. A bit too early to call him as his time zone is 1 hour behind where we are so we will speak to him from a Greek mountainside a bit later.

Nah - like Ricardian, a quiet sort of day (must be the age). Down to the range to set it up for the air weapons shooters tonight, stopped on the way home to pick up a lasagne for one for lunch (SM being out with a friend in Lytham).

Highlight of the day? Probably going to the health centre to retrieve SM's repeat prescriptions o:-) . Then back to the range this evening to get some shooting done myself - if I don't fall asleep for too long after tea, that is (-| .
