Air above me is apparently Good, probably due to a total lack of any kind of industry on Tynside now

Same on Teesside, tony. You can see the Cleveland Hills from Hartlepool these days.

And I ran away from life on steel river
Luck or not I gladly took the break
The odds were low the chances nearly zero
A chance it was I had to take
Say goodbye steel river

They say that salmon swim in steel river
They say it's good to see them back again
I know it hurts to see what really happened
I know one salmon ain't no good to them

C.Rea.

...speaking on behalf of the thousands like me, who had to leave.

Morning all, bright start but heavy showers upwind.

Going to rake up all the leaves from the back lawn this morning, they make it hard to find the 'dog eggs'. :ymsigh:

Have you tried stamping about barefoot? The Law of Sod will simplify finding them if you do it that way.

Good morning, passing 22c for a high of a guessed at 31 here.

Must stop doing manual jobs the first day that pains subside. Did some gardening yesterday as felt I could. Now have hurty back again.

That damn asparagus stuff has hit €2 a bunch for the thin stuff and €2.30 for the thicker variety.

Much enjoyment yesterday watching two muppets attempting to park a delivery truck at a Dia Local, which used to be an Eroski. In the old days one man and his truck with deliveries did not have a problem. These two had to reverse down a one way street, then took 10minutes to get the truck so the ramp would fall level with the kerb.To cap it all, when unloading, they kept dropping boxes of supplies at one stage crisps were all over the street with cans of tuna intermixed. They just managed to stop a cage of eggs heading for the street. Great spectator sport.

Back from the docs after having me arm punctured with the latest flu jab.
NHS bureaucracy has reached new levels. Before the simple act of rolling up me sleeve and nursey doing the deed, I had to read a printed noticed about having the jab and who my appointed GP is, the lassie behind the desk had to verbally repeat the same, then I got handed a slip of paper for me to take home and which merely repeated the previous information. ~X( The lassie rolled her eyes and said " We have to do it, somebody further up the hierarchy has directed that it has to be done for all patients". I really felt sorry for her.

We hear of the cash crisis facing the NHS, but if there are people who can sit around and dream up these measures, then they obviously have too much time on their hands and should be removed from the NHS payroll.

Oh! BTW, Morning folks.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

ALC please :-o OK no dog at the mo but I always go around with bare feet at home. It's the squishy ones that ooze between your toes that are the worst. Now I don't feel like lunch.

You guys up north are going on about leaves falling. Here they seem to fall from one tree or another 365 days a year. And, in a leap year even more.

At least you don't have to worry that it might be a King Cobra's nest. ;)

I only ever met the one 13 footer face-to-face and although I quite like snakes, it's not an experience I would want to repeat. They nest in a pile of leaves and guard the eggs, the only snake to do so.

Once had a large Hooded Cobra in me hands, beautiful critter, a ragged native was offering it to me for sale, the padre from the mission came out and told me not hand over any coin as its teeth would grow back and it would bite my arse to death, told him not to worry as I had no intention of buying it the sheckles in me pockst were reserved for the low dockside taverns and quantities of the local falling down water and did not stretch to purchasing serpents. :)

The "King" (or Queen) that I met reared up in front of me and we were literally face-to-face. They can lift a third of their body off the ground and strike that distance plus a bit from a forward thrust. He (she) was just warning me off, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this now. 'Little'un', our lunatic dog of the time, chased it into the pot plant collection next to the car port, whence the local Fire Brigade extracted it and took it to the Government Veterinary Centre for venom milking. He wasn't scared of anything, that dog. My fondest memory is of him having a monitor lizard by the tail and they were dancing around in a circle with the lizard trying to bite him, and him dancing out of the way, like Riki-Tikki-Tavi. The lizard was as big as he was. A snake got him in the end, bitten on a front leg. Very sad. After he was gone the monkeys became a terrible nuisance, nicking my papayas and once they even ate my orchids! Horrid little critters are the Banderlogs.

The same law says you will not find them if you go that way.

Ah, but that could depend on odour, viscosity and toxicity. There's an equation there somewhere...

I see that the Condor Lemon has had all it's sailings for today cancelled as it's got a poorly exhaust system.

Condor are owned by Macquarie Group of Sydney, who owned some of London's buses at one time. Austal are based in Henderson, Perth, Western Australia and I cannot find a connection other than Australia and "The Lemon", although Macquarie are looking at an involvement in a US Navy contract that Austal have gained.

I don't know what the connection is then, but local scuttlebutt was as I reported. I think RBS owned Condor for a short period. Certainly the CEO resigned shortly after the Liberation was purchased and locals were surprised that Incat had been passed over in favour of Austal. Condor and Incat had a relationship spanning something like 25 years.

Good morning all. We will see what weather progresses, not trusting any forecasters after yesterday. Just on a 100F too hot!

Sitting poolside in the Cinnamon Wild Yala in SL, and a lad walked past with a snake in his hands. "Wossat?" I asked. "Oh, just a snake." he replied. "They get into the rooms sometimes, so we just put them out by the waterhole".

There are 30-odd species of venomous snake in SL. :-o
