This is going to be the end of me
Liverpool have won 29 Premier League games this season. Their record in a top-flight season is 30 - back in 1978-79. And that was from 42 games.

I think TAA was the lucky one.
If Brighton beat City next week I’ve told a Brighton supporter I know, that I’ll sing “Good Old Sussex by the Sea naked on the centre spot their first home game next season

Congratulations to Norwich City. Five points clear in the Championship to win it, balanced books and an attractive brand of football.

Re: The New Football Thread
Is their ground, as featured on the documentary a while ago, Moor Lane ?
Googling it I see that it is, my infants/junior school was on the opposite side of moor lane to the ground.
We had sports day on it. I was dragged up just round the corner.

Re: The New Football Thread
Liverpool 0-3 down after the semi-final 1st leg, Messi and Suarez running rampant. Then Liverpool lose their two top strikers to injury. And no one's scored 4 unanswered goals against anyone in a semi-final, ever, nevermind Barca.
But it's Liverpool, it's at Anfield...

Re: The New Football Thread
Not against Barca, but came back with 4 goals in each of the quarter and semi finals, and they do play in red!
2005-06 Europa Cup
Middlesbrough met FC Basel in the Quarter Finals, losing the first leg 2–0 after goals from Matías Delgado and Philipp Degen. During the second leg Middlesbrough initially went 1–0 behind, before making a memorable comeback. Mark Viduka scored before half-time to level the score, before scoring again in the second half. Hasselbaink scored a third goal for the home side, before Maccarone scored the winning goal in the last minute, allowing Middlesbrough to advance 4–3 on aggregate.
In the Semi-finals Middlesbrough faced FC Steaua București, again losing the first leg, this time 1–0 after a goal from Nicolae Dică. During the second leg Middlesbrough again went behind after another goal from Dică and a further goal from Dorin Goian, though Maccarone was able to find the net before half-time. During the second half Middlesbrough would complete another unpredictable comeback, with Viduka and Riggott both scoring, followed by the winning goal from Maccarone.

I remember that run well. It was also, IIRC, the start of the famous "There's only one Job on Teeside" chant !

Re: The New Football Thread
Reminded me of United performances of years ago.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
So it will be Ajax in Madrid for the final.
Ajax, who’s captain is Daly Blind and chief exec, Edwin Van deSaar. Bit of a United connection.

Re: The New Football Thread
Well done Liverpool. I suddenly remembered to go check the result, having been elsewhere and as I scrolled down the BBC news front page to the sport there was the headline "I don't know how they did it" with a picture of a smiling Klopp, which made me think "bloody hell, they overturned a 3-0".
Re: The New Football Thread
The Catalan side of my family are not amused. Grumpy today. I am surprised I got my tea and toast this morning, as they know I am an admirer of Liverpool.
