As usual, I have not been paying attention, but can anyone tell me when politics, especially overt support for political movements sworn to overthrow the established government by whatever means, was allowed to contaminate the sport of ‘footy’?

Hmmmm, Plymouth to Sunderland must be a bit of a stretch - if any supporters could be bothered! :))

I was amazed to see that the BBC were showing live Premiership football today.
