Got a completely new scam approach last few days. SMS to my mobile promising a Council Tax rebate. Identical messages but a slightly different URL. The originating number is just some numbers.

Contacted Talk talk and had to spell out SMS and then explain to the help desk that an SMS was a text message. She then came up with some BRILLIANT advice, don't answer and just ignore the message it was an error. Error, no quite deliberate.

Contacted Tristia Harrison and told her what I expected TT should do. Like they had a URL: track it and kill it.

My Ghanaian is probably creaming his pants. He thinks I'm arriving next week, I've sent him a fake e-ticket, with a large sum of cash, and I've asked him to arrange a drive for me to the hotel that I'm letting them book.

I've also sent him a 'copy' of a transaction with Travelex showing a conversion of £1000 to Ghanaian beads!

Can only agree. The OS that does not dare speak its name seems immune to Africa's Playstore.

Recently, I've been getting a load of spam e-mails with the old 'click on the link' to receive the wonderful offers - yeah , right! These spam e-mails went on to say if I wanted to 'unsubscribe' I should click on another link or write to an address given in the text. The e-mail extension is @realdeals.live; there isn't a URL for a web-site - it comes back 'cannot connect with server'.

The address given is:

616 Corporate Way
Suite 2-9092
Valley Cottage
NY 10989

I bunged that address into Bing Maps and, lo and behold, it's an address for Microsoft Support Centre on some grotty industrial estate. I've e-mailed Microsoft to let them know that someone might be getting up to mischief using them as cover.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Microshaft couldn't give a toss.

I regularly contact the fraud departments of various banks with details of accounts being used by scammers for the proceeds of crime, and I am lucky if I even get an automated response.

Well I have started to get SMS messages to contact can website. I spoke with the mobile help desk. The woman there had no clue. She didn't know what an SMS was. She had to 'go and investigate' short hand for asking her supervisor.

Then she came up with "ignore them, they were sent in error". No they weren't I said, they were quite deliberate.

" ignore them, don't click on the link" no ***** Sherlock.

I sent an email to the CEO telling her what I expected they should do. Got a message back in an hour. Hopefully they didn't kick the problem back to India.

My Ghanaian scammer boys are getting upset with me. Oh dear ......
Good Afternoon Mr. ......

I told you am very sick can’t be walking far distance to check my mail always, When I advise you as a father to tune down how you insult me and call me all manner of names little do you know that not everybody will tolerate such. Just Imagine Mr. Emmanuel, is bitterly angry and your utterances sending him mails without proper conduct and addressing him in good manner rather you call a man of such caliber a boy.

This your mail got him upset he don’t know you neither have anything to do with you before just to help me get things done in proper manner but because you don’t have a single respect for an average black man for that reason you can talk to anybody any how you wish or want please some people can’t take such and Mr. Emmanuel is one of them.

I advise you to send him mail address him well and talk to him in proper manner you need his help to assist us especially me I am the one who is in need probably not you because you’re okay but I am the one who need help and want to leave this continent of Africa for good life and quality education.

I am pleading with you not to give up in assisting me but understand am very sick at this moment.

Thanks

Michael.

HMRC 'support line' called me this afternoon (+443002000606) with a recorded message saying that if I didn't press 1 to.speak.to a consultant they would immediately issue a warrant for my arrest for tax fraud.

Pressing 1 got me through immediately to a man speaking British English. He started by asking me my name, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to give the name of someone who has pissed me off, so I asked him how he could know there was a fraud case against me if he didn't know my name.

Sadly, at that point, he hung up.

There's always next time

Hmmm... I wonder if he's sneaked in here a couple of times when I wasn't looking.

You have received this communication from All About Response after submitting your email address when completing either Soapbox Survey or one of our partner surveys to register electrical goods.
This email is marketing communications sent on behalf of Payday Loan Claims.

I got a text the other day from 'N a t w e s t' telling me that my online banking had been 'suspensed due to a suspicious activity', and to to click on a link 'nw0lb.com' to restore it.
I suppose we should be lucky that most scammers are so stupid that they can really only catch people at the bottom end of the gene pool.

I had one of the "We heard you'd had an accident which wasn't your fault..." calls this morning, young female voice with a very well spoken English accent.

I am getting emails about Tinnitus, Skin Tags, Male Enhancement, etc. Get them every day. Curiously ever one would return to Lucy New Wine England.

Passed every one to my ISP.

Had four calls today (all blocked by my BT phone) from different numbers but all starting 001.... Googled a couple of them and apparently it would have been a recording message saying that a scammer had taken £600 through my Visa card and that I should press 1 to sort it.

Perhaps one should post a photo of oneself in the nude on Grindr to stop offers of male enhancement devices. Or in some cases, possibly not.

Just got this:

Good Morning,

I got your details online and decided to get in touch as we are looking for someone to undertake the new drive way and walk way to our house. We have full planning permission and building warrant in place, with a full set of plans from an engineer and architect. We would be delighted if you might be interested in providing us with a quote?

Please get back to me if interested then I can forward the plans across to you in details.

Awaiting your kind reply.

Thanks,
Beth Phillips
