They will reply to your quote accepting it, and telling you that they have a cheque/draft from a client for 'x', which will be more than your quote, and all you have to do is send them back the difference via Moneyscam/Western Union etc.

The cheque/draft will obviously be forged or stolen, and in the unlikely event that you would bank it, it would be initially credited to your account and then subsequently on collection by the issuing bank it would be dishonoured and your account would be debited, leaving you out of pocket and open potentially to a charge of being in possession of stolen funds.

I usually give this type of scammer the address of a police station and let them post it there.

Quite possibly I'll forego payment on this one, especially as I have no record of an order from 'Russell', the phone number given is the fax of a 'Hosted Telephony' company and even I am not stupid enough to open a zip file from someone I've never heard of.

You’ll be lucky to find a Police Station these days :((

Subject: Your account is being used by another person!

Hello!

I am a hacker who has access to your operating system.
I also have full access to your account.

I've been watching you for a few months now.
The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.
Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.
This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence.

Why your antivirus did not detect malware?
Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched.
With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks.
I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this,
transfer the amount of $500 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 3NvdRHEEhyX7aPrEM5Zi3aEzqddh7ac3c9

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again.
I give you 50 hours (more than 2 days) to pay.
I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address.
I do not make any mistakes.

If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.

Best regards!

Well, now. What's your advice?
1) inform them I've been too busy to 'engage' in the aforementioned activity?
2) inform them even if I weren't I've had to limit my screen time very severely due to eye fatique, so all 'activities' have to be carried out in real reality?
3) inform them my vintage business-puter has no camera?
4) keep it secret Cape might get at it? (answering, that is, what did you think?? :ymdevil: )
(and, well, how should I express it decently... I'm such a geront' I'm not in social networks :( )

Just ignore it and delete it - don't reply as that confirm's your e-mail address as 'active'. You'll probably get another one in a few days time then after that they'll get bored and try some other potential victim.

I knew straightaway that the one sent to me was a scam - my computer's camera is covered by a big gob of Bluetac. :-bd
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Reply from a 'throw away' email address and say go ahead and do your thing.
Alternatively plead with them.that you can't pay yet and string them along.

Pier 4 at the Barrack St Jetty is the Rottnest Express ferry terminal and offices. I’m passing that way on Thursday - want me to rough up somebody? :))

- it was my regular e-mail.Of course, if you send, say, 100.000 and there are 100 who fit the profile and 10 of them reply, it's still something?
Well, had a good laugh anyway.

If you can get there, Siseman!😁 From google maps it looks like there's so much work going on you'd need a tank to get there.

I feel very left out.I never get scam e-mails,requests,threats etc etc.I presume its because I still use XP.I don't do on-line banking etc.I'm the guy in front of you at the bank counter with a bagful of coin from my penny jar to weigh in.

I got this today from Currys PC World, a company whose doorstep I shall never again darken after they tried to scam my wife over a 'service plan' on a PC she bought from them.

I've sent the email to their 'customer services' and expect to receive
a) Nothing
b) an illiterate meaningless email from a moron which does not refer to the matter I raised
c) a phone call from an illiterate moron unable to express him/herself.

Got a cracker just now containing the phrase

"You entered a password on one of the insecure site you visited, and I catched it."

Accused me, as well, of visiting Slasher's porn sites too. I'll have you know, I have my own.

Must be from the Chump judging by the literary skills... =))

Came home to a message on the answerphone "£600 has been paid to an overseas account using your card. Press '1' to freeze your card and safeguard your account". Yeah!! Right!

Call supposedly came from 02166203954. Must admit, it's the first time we've received that message.

Received an SMS purporting to be from a local electronics store, advising that I had won 2nd prize in their monthly draw - click on link to see what I had won. Funny, since I haven't bought anything there recently, and they shouldn't have my phone number.

Instead, I went to their web site, to see a screen shot of the SMS on their scam warning page.

This week I have genuinely received £1,300 in unexpected payments. This must be my lucky week as I have just received the following, though why his email address is Hotmail.ca I don't know:

GOV.UK-

* We have recalculate your last fiscal activity and we have determinated that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 495.87 GBP..
* We tried to send it to you automatically but were unable to do so as we don't have your Credit/Debit Card details on file
Please Complete the money claim form
In case of errors or information mismatch found in your application, the claim can be delayed to next year..

Regards, Mahbub Alom

Call earlier from 01453 187937 (Dursley - somewhere in the west Midlands I think)

"Hello my name is Rosie Smith, I believe you recently had an accident that wasn't your fault" Quite a well spoken English bint.
"Yes, indeed"
Click, and I get put through to Rajeev or Sandip .....
"Can you tell me about your accident?"
"Which one?"
Have you had more than one?"
"Yep."
"Can you tell me about it?"
"Tell you about what."
"Your accident"
"Which one?"
"Have you had more than one?"
"Yep, I've already told you that."
"So you've had more than accident?"
"Are you reading from a **** script or do you have a brain between your ears."
"How many accidents have you had?"
"Over what of period time? The last month, the last year, my lifetime?

At that point he either lost patience or realised I was pulling his chain.

On a more serious note, this newish scam was drawn to my attention today :

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-49450485
A brand new top-of-the-range phone is delivered to your door. The package has your name on it but you don't remember ordering it.
There is another knock at the door and a courier asks for the phone back explaining: "We delivered it by mistake."
Would you hand it over? If you do, it could prove to be an expensive mistake.
It is a scam and yet another way that sophisticated thieves try to rip us off.

I had one of those "have you had an accident" calls last month. I led the guy (possibly Nigerian) along for some time, telling him my injuries - lost a leg, arm, etc. Finally I was telling him only my head was left, in a bowl on the kitchen counter. He sounded incredulous, but when I said "Sorry, you will have to speak more loudly as I'm a bit deaf" he slammed the phone down.
