Re: Sumer is icumen in, loude sing cuckou ...

I had to cut something from the answers post because there were too goddam many characters once again - 6228, or 228 over the max allowable - so the rules went by the board.
I'm trying to figure out a way around this, one way is to reduce the number of questions and increase the frequency of the quiz. I have no idea if I would be allowed an exemption to the 6000 character rule, or indeed if it's even feasible. Please comment.

1...The quiz will be posted on Saturday or Sunday evening, my time.

2...Answers are worth a point apiece, except some questions may ask for additional info, worth extra points. This is a pub-type quiz, so Google ain't your friend.

2a...There are musical clues scattered throughout the quiz (in groups of 5 or 10). Identify the song and artist from the clue supplied.

Additional posts will be ignored and edited posts will be disqualified. After the first answers have been compiled, all restrictions are cancelled (free for all).

4...The judge's decision is final.

Initial scores:

Fox3 26
Tall Bird 8
Romeo Delta 3
A Lutra Continua 3
Karearea 2

The second part of this quiz with the remaining 40 questions will be posted on Tuesday evening.

Jeez Stoneboat. ^:)^ :YMHUG: :x Thank you for the vid. Not seen before. *Smacks head* I'll be kicked out of the Ian & Sylvia fanclub and another notch against renewal of passport. Seem to recall singing Summer Wages in ?The Wagon Wheel in Kingston or some similar dive where we were later chucked out as under age drinkers. OPP quote: you're not in Kweebec now! Happy Daze.

OPP quote: you're not in Kweebec now! Happy Daze.

Hee hee, happy daze indeed. The blind pig here was called l'Hotel Briand. We use to go there while still in high school, probably 16 or 17 years old. I never ever got carded or thrown out, but some did. One month they had a band called Big John Little and his House Rockin' Hot Toddies. Big John was from Trinidad and so black you could hardly see him in the gloom. His music was great, sixties rock, Harry Belafonte, Chuck Berry etc. One Friday night a friend and I went to a high school dance, and when it ended at 11:00 PM we asked one of the chaperones, a Mr. Downes who also happened to be from Trinidad, to give us a ride to the hotel. We told him who was playing and it turned out he knew him from when he taught in Val-Dor, so he came in to say hello. We took a table up near the bandstand and John was just finishing a set so he came over and sat down. He already knew us and he was quite happy to see Mr. Downes. John was sitting next to me and turned around, and said "You should have seen the chick Ozzie was boffing in Val-Dor. She told me had a dick about this long!" and he held up his hands about a foot apart. Mr. Downes shook his head and said, "John, fer Chrissake tone it down! I have to teach those kids on Monday morning." =))

Apropos of little, Sumer is Icumen In was performed regularly by Richard Thompson. His record company asked him to record songs from "the last millennium", presumably expecting versions of recorded material. Typical RT, he took them at their word. Started with "Sumer", cast his net wide, and ended with Britney's "Oops" which is a bloody dark song when you read the lyrics. Goodonya, RT.
