What's the day today?

Sept. 26 -European Day of Languages

Interactive European language map

There definitely are plenty... isn't it interesting how different and intricate they are? And thinking of the whole world, scary. :-O
Reminds me of a friend who was spoken to by a little Chinese girl, who was real puzzled that she didn't understand her. So, the girl took a piece of paper from her pocket and wrote it there - and, who would believe adults are SO ignorant, she still didn't understand!

Perhaps this is part of their problem.

Why can't they all just speak English? That was the plan in the 19th century. Till the French messed it up.

Who'd have thought the music is going to be that popular?

World Mental Health Day - 10 October every year. The overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

Very appropriate :), so let's try to keep sane.

Actually I wonder who decides what to celebrate. If it's not something very old and traditional.

In 1812 Napolean's army began its retreat from Russia. (Retreat? French? Nah!)

Here in South Australia today November 5th used to be known as Guy Fawkes Day, when Children and Adults used to blow things up with penny bungers, tuppeny bungers and eventually threepenny bungers!! :ymdevil:

Then along came a nanny state Government (Labor) who banned it. X(

It was still permitted in the NT back in the early 80's as I remember.
