Nashville Metropolitan Police in Tennessee said on Saturday that detectives are investigating the shooting death of Timothy Wilks, 20. The incident occurred during the filming of a video for the internet in the parking lot of Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, a family entertainment business.
The police in a statement said investigators have been told Wilks and a friend tried to carry out a prank robbery for a YouTube video.
The pair, armed with butcher knives, are said to have approached a group of people to pretend to rob them, prompting one of member of the party, David Starnes Jr, 23, to draw his gun and fire.
Starnes admitted to police he shot Wilks and said he did so in self-defense. He told the cops he was not aware the robbery was a prank. No charges have been filed against Starnes and the investigation remains ongoing.

New York state father-to-be killed when gender reveal prop explodes
Christopher Pekny died and his brother was injured from the Sunday blast in the village of Liberty.

An explosive prop being built for a gender reveal party accidentally detonated and killed a father-to-be in New York state, authorities said Monday.
The tragic mishap occurred in the Sullivan County village of Liberty, about 100 miles northwest of New York City, a little before 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, state police said.
Christopher Pekny, 28, died in the blast and his brother Michael Pekny, 27, was injured, officials said.
The prop under construction wasn't even going to be the final product to be used for the gender reveal, but just the prototype, Trooper Steven Nevel told NBC News.
"It wasn't meant to harm anyone," Nevel said. "It was just an innocent prop for a gender reveal that went horribly wrong."
The bomb squad investigation has just started so the materials Pekny had planned to use for the prop were not immediately known, Nevel added.
With the rise of social media, more and more couples have opted for elaborate stunts to reveal the gender of their unborn baby. Some of the stunts involve incendiary devices or smoke bombs, typically with blue smoke to show the baby will be a boy or pink smoke for a girl.
A California firefighter died last year fighting the El Dorado Fire, a massive blaze touched off by a gender reveal party in San Bernardino County. More than 22,000 acres were charred.
In October 2019, 56-year-old Iowa resident Pamela Kreimeyer was killed by debris from an explosion at a gender reveal party.
"We've seen these (accidents) happening around the country and 'Don't do it' is the only thing I can say," Nevel said.

Re: Darwin Awards
In these politicly correct time's, when gender specific terms such as 'boy' and 'girl' are verboten; just what does one say in a gender reveal announcement?
Cynicism improves with age
Re: Darwin Awards
They're color-coded.
One other consideration: How do they plan to identify? Will that stay static? Will surgery be involved?
I guess we will need a rainbow of colors (see what I did there ).

A palpable hit. You are right, the genes march onwards as you say! Poor bairn... What a silly person his/her mom was!

Driving fast on crowded roads, frequently snow-covered, is endemic in Russia. You Tube is your friend.
Re: Darwin Awards
Not sure if this goes here or in the Animal Killers thread, given what usually happens in such fights.

A rooster that had been fitted with a knife for an illegal cockfight has killed its owner in southern India.
The bird's owner was impaled in the groin by the knife as the animal tried to escape. The man died on the way to hospital from a loss of blood.

Re: Darwin Awards
Excellent! Should happen more often. No doubt the bird was tried, found guilty, and strangled to death.
Re: Darwin Awards
The photo in the article notes in the caption that the rooster was taken to a farm.Local police officer B Jeevan said the animal would be taken to court as evidence at a later date, according to The New Indian Express.
