Re: Darwin Awards
Is it not Darwin at work that Western democracies are importing Islamic refugees en masse, jihadis known to be among them, to dissolve and attack their cultures and heritage?
The cultural suicide is lamentable, and many are making tracks to friendlier climes, such as Panama, Philippines, Thailand, et al., but does it have to end this way? Can't we reassert our values and heritage as positive and worthwhile? After all, post-Renaissance life has been pretty good, even with the occasional episodes of global and total war considered. As for me, I'm leaning toward escaping the 1st world stress for Panama.

Recommend the NSW South Coast in Australia, Ben There. Gets a bit hectic over the Christmas/New Year holiday period, but other than that where I've just moved to is a minimal drama environment. This site is the only place where I can find out what is actually happening in the world.

Plenty of places in Aus you can live well but still be "away from it all".
Re: Darwin Awards
So does that mean Americans can just come and live there, just like that?
I thought this was the only country on earth where that happened.

Re: Darwin Awards
Coastal western Canada is pretty nice if you can handle the weather and you want to "escape it all".
Met a Canadian immigration officer in Butchart Gardens. Of course the conversation turned to what would be needed to immigrate to Canada. He smiled and said "No problem, straight in because you speak English'. He told us that he could spend a week at work and never deal with an English speaking potential immigrant.

Interesting. One would think they'd be more interested in Francophones judging by the insistence on labels and signs in French but not necessarily in English.

Isn't that on the other side of the country - ie Eastern Canada - Quebec ?
I thought the original comment was about Coastal Western Canada.

Why did they have a condom machine there anyway
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I couldn't guess...well, perhaps I can actually but I don't want to go there - figuratively or literally!

Another award. It makes you wonder.
Tragedy: The body of a kayaker who went missing as Storm Frank battered the UK was recovered from the River Findhorn in Moray today. The man, who was in his 50s, got into difficulties while navigating near an area known as Elephant Rock yesterday afternoon. It comes as large swathes of the country recover from Britain's sixth named storm as forecasters warn more rain will hit tonight and tomorrow

Something similar happened here in the U.S. last week: guy on cell phone - squawking away and paying no attention - walked off a cliff and fell 900'.

Horse penis joke Scot to be deported
Sad. I have frequently enjoyed a dish we openly called "Donkey Dick" although in the days when our canteen manager was Syrian (or similar) we were reprimanded for comparing his meatballs with camel gonads. I suppose you are risking your life in some countries to make remarks like that, such as comparing the Spanish government to a gnat's penis (detumesced) so I won't do it.
