Meanwhile our river (which is 10% fed by the outfall of Britain's largest reservoir) has never been lower, and has been running on empty for several weeks.

It is possible to walk across in several places:- Tyne level

I looked at our river and it shows the same picture. It is only a tenth of the Orange line value. However we have never seen it less and no idea when it last flooded.

Need rather more data for any conclusions.

Morning folks. All the candidates for the elections have illegally obtained voting papers and are handing them around advising where to put crosses. We do not mind as some of the names are complicated. You discreetly take your illegal copy into the booth and swap it for the one given to you. We are one person short for the main council. Going to ask the mayor for advice. Not voting in the European election. Wouldn't know where to start. Also of courss we would be voting for Greek candidates who we do not know.

Our most recent major flood was December 2015 when it reached 5.8 metres and many dwellings were flooded to depth of 2 metres - possibly the highest since 1771, though a repeat of the January 2005 flood (5.3 metres).
More recently, earlier this year we had an 'overtopping', when the river breaks its banks and floods the local highway but no dwellings are inundated - just gardens.

So, the European elections are all Greek to you?

I felt the same.

Ex-Ascot, the UK MEP candidates were largely unknown to the majority too. It didn't matter as you didn't vote for the individual.

There were only a handful of Candidates who I recognised. Ann Widecombe perhaps the best known. Then Rees-Mogg and the Johnsons.

I actually knew and worked with one candidate, ex-RAF, Nick Byatt. If they got many more than 10 votes I will be surprised.

Morning

Temperature a tad down today into lower 20s, after a raging wind blew in late last night. However, early cloud is now dispursing and the blue is back.

Early morning caberet in town with a drunk Spanish woman trying to get at the little man in the cash dispenser at la Caixa, who would not let her have any money.

Morning all,
'Tis trying to be blue, slowly.
Same wind overnight. A guess of 23 today. As the current guesser's best shot has been comfortably exceeded these last three days I expect more like 25 or 6.

Henry has been in max speed destroy mode this morning, round the dining table out round the green pond - repeat at full tilt.

Still no voting papers received.

The Red and Yellows are not doing well at collecting a parcel for return either, Item wrongly described on web site so being returned at vendors expense. R & Y refusing to collect.
There has been much e traffic about this.

A normal Saturday it seems.

What's worse than dying when descending Mount Everest?

Kevin Hynes, 56, from Ireland died on Friday on the northern Tibet side after turning back before reaching the mountain's peak.

Couldn't believe it Ibbie, with that wind the temperature dropped 8 degrees in 30 mins; 28 down to 20!

Raki time, nothing but politics being spoken. We are with one main council candidate and one local one. They both have our votes.

Discussed dinner with chef. Tagliatelli with smoked salmon agreed.

Very early visit to the polling station in the morning.

Suddenly turned hot in the north. Well, hot for May 2019. 22° and wind. Campaigners out for the Municipal Elections tomorrow. Dont know why they bother as no interest. Usual results, old Town Hall voted out, new Town Hall voted in, the latter will discover millions of euros deficit in the accounts of their predecessors. One town hall election is overshadowed by former mayor from five years ago, a very decent chap I thought, hanging himself two weeks ago, aged 56.

Ex-A, I appreciate your raki-o-clock. Nice idea. Did much the same with arrack in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago. For some reason, locals drank arrack (dirt cheap) with 7-up (very pricey).

I read it gives you a faster hang over. I will ask a friend who does it why he prefers it that way,

If a certain prolific poster in the Mil Aviation board over on TOP is watching Channel 5 right now, he better check his heart rate as Section Officer Harvey (aka Susannah York) is prancing around in her undies.

Wouldn't it be nice if Susannah York was prancing about without her undies? Mind you, Jenny Agutter did that as a nurse in American Werewolf in London.
