Not boring or pointless but making a rare visit to TOP I was amazed to see just how sparse the Admirals TRABB thread is.

Just 70 posts in June to date - busiest day was 16 posts but an average of 2.5 posts a day with 8 days with no posts at all.

Some 645 posts here on its Ops N counterpart for June - 25 per day. Thank you everyone especially Alison.

When you consider the rejection of some contributors, it's not surprising . . .

Well, all the fun posters got kicked off so how could it be otherwise than a deserted waste with dead flowers poking up from the sterile sands (and K&C dancing round kicking his legs in the air, clad only in a folded copy of the Guardian).

I encountered, completely by accident, the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology. It's associated with University College London, and I came across it when I was checking up on a project at UCL. Fascinating place to spend an hour or two.

I got sunburn in Scotland once. On a bank holiday Monday, too!

Good morning all. Mrs OFSO says her feet are freezing. 13° out this morning and predicted to rise to a dizzy 22° by midday. Just switched the bathroom heating on.

It's Artday! Enough said.

Tad cloudy, but plesant for dag walking. 18c at the mo, but when the clag burns off will shout up into high 20s.

I shudder at the thought of going to a 'music festival' such as Glastonbury, but was shocked to see this morning what the ticket price per person is, and the average spend per guest.

Any guesses?

Sun is out in Pembrokeshire, cliffs and beaches are practically deserted, it takes about 30 seconds to be served at the bar and the sea air is lovely.

With all costs you could easily spend £600.

Morning all,
25 here already, with heavy haze.

I advertised a rustic table and 4 chairs this morning in the area newsletter.
so far four bites one of which is coming with a rather optimistic BMW with roof bars.

Daughter from first marriage will be at Glastonbury and has been to every one for the last 20 years but she is in the industry and has clients there. Her husband is also appearing on one of the minor stages.

They both claim to love it and anyway, I suppose for them it is tax deductible.

We have plans to take the Sproglettes to Latitude this year if we can squeeze it in.

Mr Sun is out and the cloud is burning away nicely.
Still only 16C but 20C forecast.

Off to the Royal in a short while for another 4 hour dialysis session.
It keeps me off the streets and out of trouble.
I shall call in at the watering hole on the way back to top up the toxins.

Morning folks Just had to go to the capital.to see accountant to sort out house tax. We have to prove spending a year here of 300€. We do this a week but in cash. Should therefore pay a penalty. She said don't worry I have loads of spare receipts.

Then had go to the council office to sign a paper from 5 years ago..Guy not there. Now have to go back next week. One hour.of hairpin bends with tourists in 'manual' hire cars braking hard at every bend and crawling along. Very difficult to overtake.

If I had to go to that concert thing I would pay £600 for someone to go for me.

Ribrash was just about right :
Glastonbury | in numbers
Number of punters 210,000
Ticket price £248 (plus booking fee)
Average on-site spend per guest £196
Average off-site spend per guest £203
Average total spend per guest, including ticket price £650
Estimated total ticketholder spend £83.8 million
Estimated spend by festival organisers £30 million
Glastonbury Festival Events Ltd reported revenues over the year to March 2018 £44 million
Glastonbury Festival Events Ltd pre-tax profits over the year to March 2018 £1.77 million
Michael Eavis's annual salary £60,000
Estimated number of festival workers 63,000
Total spend by punters and organisers almost £114 million
I understand that people who can afford it will spend money seeing favourite artists, I have spent a lot of money in the last few years on travel, hotels, and tickets to see some of my favourite artists, but I can afford to do so in comfort, and not sitting in a muddy field with a bunch of unwashed hippies **** into portacabins and buckets.
I suspect that most of the people who go to events such as Glastonbury are simply running up debt in order to 'enjoy' the experience.

Having been acquainted with some of the residents of Pilton, I can assure you that Michael Eaves is the most hated man in that part of the world for using his farm to hold the ghastly festival each year. It's a wonder to me that he hasn't been bumped off by his neighbours.

I spent a bit more than an hour or two at UCL, on the degree course that enabled me to enjoy a fascinating career, and earn enough to visit the marvels of Egyptian temples on Nile cruises. Oddly enough, I never actually found the Petrie museum over the 3 years of study there, it's a big campus!
