Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
A few months too late for April 1st? They cannot be serious!
Funny lot in Porthcawl - many, many moons ago I landed on their beach in my little Electricity Board helicopter when I was caught out by drizzle and low cloud. Nobody popped along to see if we were alright. When the weather cleared an hour or so later we took off again. Odd!

Wheelchairs ? or are they going to prohibit the disabled ?
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
How sensitive are these floors going to be? What happens if you drop something on them? I wonder if the system can be hacked? Could provide endless entertainment if there's convenient seating outside nearby.

Last time (about 20 years ago) I went to Legoland I was surprised at how expensive it was. I since discovered that there are discount codes and so on that you can download for many such attractions.
Last week, for example, London Eye, 2 x Fastrack tickets £74, but booked with a discount code from the National Rail website, £40.

The rail discount site also gives a code for Kew Gardens, two get in for the price of one, you just have to buy a rail ticket of some sort.

You can often get offers on Groupon.
Register with TopCashBack then book through Groupon and get a further kick back.
Most of my regular online retailers are on TCB - Amazon, eBay, Groupon, Marks & Sparks, AO.Com.

At 0630 the sun was shining but now it's raining. Weather has obviously not read the forecast! I must mow the lawns and do a ton of other things in the garden before going away.

At a bit of a loose end today. Still here in Taipei for another week and my colleagues have gone so no-one to share meals, beer and ***** with! Too hot to go out and mooch about aimlessly so will spend a few hours browsing threads on Ops-normal! But only one more week before I return home for good. Mrs S will be pleased.

Peter Fonda has died aged 79 in Los Angeles, the film Easy Rider is now very dated, but does have a great soundtrack.
Sunshine in Dorset, roads completely blocked by road works and the arrival of travellers for the GDSF. Will be attending next Friday if all goes to plan.

Morning folks. What I would do with those public conveniences is plant a 10 stone rock in each one.
Now seem to have clean water coming from the pond filter. Hopefully in a couple of days we will be able to see the bottom again.
Just popping up river to the the safari camp for a few beers. Very annoying they have water right in front of them and mud flats on the opposite bank. 2 km down river we have mud flats and water on our opposite bank.
Not sure when our grass was last cut but it needs doing.

Hello, peeps. Survived Italy despite 2 big thunderstorms, one mini-twister and an earthquake. MrsP chucked herself off Monte Baldo (6000') on a tandem paraglider, but survived. I sat by the lake with a book and a beer. Seemed the better option.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
AM you must be joking it is cold and wet. There is normally very little cost involved in this climate. Not Like OFSO with his heated pool. Pump run by solar and chemicals can't even cost £2 a week. It is nice to st by with a cold beer or even sit on the edge dangling ones feet in it. Take a hotel swimming pool. What is the percentage of the time folk sit by it against the time they go in it. Don't think Mrs Ex-Ascot has been in for at least a year. Me maybe 6 times.
Just come back from the safari camp. A difficult group. Mainly two Brit couples complaining. plus a French couple (surprise, surprise) and a couple from Portugal. They are spending too much time driving the guide should rest every 4 hours. They signed up for this clear awful overlander itinerary. The guide drives until he drops. They were frightened in the bush at night. They heard a lion and though it was going to come and kill them. And all sorts of similar trivia.

We are in the middle of one of those tropical thunderstorms at the moment. Lots of flashing lights, drum rolls and vertical aqueous precipitation.
Nephew's christening tomorrow and our place being used for the post christening party. Rellies all over setting up karaoke machines and tables. Goat has gone. Afraid to ask where. Sproglettes will be witnesses at the ceremony and have disappeared with aunt to see priest for indoctrination on duties. Now stranded by floods.
Think I'll have another beer

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
For the record: the gas heating for the pool was never used by us, leaked, and was removed many years ago. The solar heating elements also leaked, clogged up, a complete waste of time. Been disconnected for years. The pool is indoors with south-facing windows and is always above 30° by July due to insolation. Some years even higher. I keep threatening to put a crocodile in it to encourage Mme OFSO to swim even faster...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
OFSO at one safari camp here (Little Kwara) they had problems with the baboons playing around and drinking from the pool. There was a carved wooden croc in reception. I popped it into the pool and it went around and around with the pump running. The baboons didn't go anywhere near for the rest of our stay. Met the camp manager in town a few months later. The baboons had worked it out and were back in the pool.
