Quite odd, TGG, to see the wind back like that when the prevailing wind is so strongly westerly. It looks from the synoptic chart as if it is a line squall passing through, but at least it is down the drag!

I reckon you are building the need for a METAR thread, meself, guv.! :))
Your take on the line squall with embedded Cb's is spot on.

As for the rest you can't beat a good METAR in the afternoon! =))

Snowing hereabouts at the moment - weather guesser on BBC1 missing that.

A tree fell over near us yesterday. It was on a controversial building site and had a Tree Preservation Order on it - how convenient for the builder!!

G-CPTN I have fond memories of the Indian restaurant from the days when I lived in the area. Has it re-opened? I know we lost the pub where I used to stay (in Ovingham) as the result of (I think) Desmond.
The Indian restaurant re-opened after six months and the pub at Ovingham is finally being worked on with a view to reopening whilst the other pub in Ovingham suffered a fire in October 2019 but reopened a month later.

Meanwhile the earth decided to eat Essex, took one taste and spat it out...

Is this one of the "A hole mysteriously appeared on an Essex Street. Police are looking into it." sort of joke?

I thought Essex was a black hole (with apologies to anyone who lives there!)

*or should that be sympathy!

Surely that is an Essex attempt at an underground car park?

Trifle windy over the weekend! We got a bit trapped in by a couple of fallen trees blocking access roads.

Today, drove past Smeagol's golf course at Eaton after reading his post and thinking 'what a bunch of softies'. And my thoughts going back to a tournament/competition on one of the Moray courses back in the 80s. I had just posted something like 140 (with an 8 handicap) in crap conditions on a links course when the match was abandoned. Quite simply, on about half the holes, if you placed a golf ball on the green, it would blow off!

Now helping Sproglette Senior with her surds.

Any more meteorological tech talk and I’ll have to exhume my copy of AP3307, which only ever got to Amendment List 1, and discreetly peruse it so’s I can understand and contribute.
Otherwise I’ll be forced to *****, as normal....

Thanks for that. Fond memories of all three!

Morning folks. I will do my own TAF: CAVOK. Lump on neck a bit annoying today and antibiotics making me fatigued. Planned to walk up to the safari camp this lunchtime but we will drive. Lagoon/puddle down even more today. no rain forecast.

It appears that Slasher and Sisemen have gorn. A fellow Captain and a fellow Sqn Ldr. This is a great loss to the forum.

What! A TAF but no METAR! Standards gentlemen, standards... :-B

I heard the distant sound of drums prophesying of two comets wandering in long eccentric orbits far from ops-normal. A dark hour indeed.

I spotted two funnel clouds during yesterday's line squall (my excitement was great) ... apparently tornadoes were predicted but no evidence of any touchdowns..

I think it is time for a meteorology thread on this site. Is anybody in accord?

Not the brightest hour for ops as the untimely disappearance of two members will make the forum less attractive. And Fox3 is nowhere to be found.

It was a choice them or me. I felt that my departure would have been more traumatic, perhaps a greater loss. If people disagree than I coud change my mind. Think about that.

Few would have noticed the wording of the following post

It’s the Admin’s sandcastle so it can do whatever it bloody likes. I don’t care, and haven’t cared for quite some time.
"It" is used to denigrate a trans person instead of using a male or female pronoun. I am not a **** "it".
