Another day of weed-beating beckons on me canal. Got a new weapon in the shape of a trail-a-blade which is towed behind the workboat. It's a bit of a beast ,and hopefully will cut a path through the stuff that has proliferated during the lockdown closure. We're determined to get the waterway open again, but we are up against Mother Nature. One will take one's waterproofs in light of HF's forecast.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

No rain again here.
Presently 26c and I would think heading into the 30s again depite the mad guesser stating a high of 28c.

More people out early walking with their dogs this morning.

Expecting the window repair man, patio door been u/s since March, real PITA. Up slightly late, dog quite happy to eat before walk. Sometimes walk/eat other times eat/walk.

Today eat/whine, one annoyed dog. As soon as he comes I think a walk will be on the cards.

Morning all,
Here we go with another one,
The guess here is for 31, passing 28 from the overnight low of 27.
Round the pond it's like a dog breathing on you.

Need to do a bit of pond work, despite countermeasures it's getting greener.
Do that next while it's relatively cool, later it will be impossible.

Seen just now on an RAF-related Facebook group:
To mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS, a Spitfire will be flying over various hospitals, Captain Tom More's home and Witchford on Sunday 5th July at 4:45ish!! To honour ALL the kind seamstresses and co-ordinators in the area who've tirelessly been making scrubs and scrub bags for health workers during this pandemic, This is for you!
The Royal Papworth Hospital team, who requested it fly over us in Witchford, invites everyone in Witchford to come outside their homes or stand in their garden and wave (a flag if you have one) as the plane goes by if you can)
This is truly an honour and a great moment for our little village!
Thank You NHS!!!
Spitfire on Sunday!

Happy dog. Her favourite field was cleared of sheep yesterday, her third walk (run) in the field. Gets ratty if there is a break in her routine. Based on the new dog age estimates she remains more insistent pre-teen than late 20s

Morning folks. Our pond being hoovered and it is crystal clear blue as is the sky. Lagoon dark blue and full. Today should be the last day of the ship refit. Chaps all over it at the mo painting and fitting the new seating which is far better than the old. Much deeper cushioning. Boss chap has lost some screws! and has had to do a 80 km round trip to buy more. This is Africa, got a guy balanced on a ladder on a plank balanced on two drums over the water. Croc fodder.

No power cut last night after the system was fiddled with yesterday. For 11 months I have been saying it is a battery problem. E-mail this morning, He thinks that it is a battery problem. It is not talking to the other parts of the system. Temporary battery being fitted today and ours going to the vets.

Ah, but you don't know anything.

Two weeks ago got an appointment from Window company to fix patio door. "What's wrong". I told her bottom bolt won't retract, I think it's the gear box.

Man drove an hour here, fiddled for 10 minutes "it's the gear box". Departed to order spare.

It's not just an African thing.

Certainly isn't. Mrs C16's Audi A3 went into limp mode. The AA arrived, plugged in a reader and literally a few seconds later said that the oxygen sensor was U/S. Car goes to Audi dealer. Tell them to change the sensor. Comes the time to pay and they have charged £66 to plug in a reader and confirm it was the oxygen sensor in addition to the cost of the new sensor and fitting. Big row. Remind them that I said "Change the oxygen sensor" and that I've been a customer for over 30 years. They back down, £66 charge removed. Never going back. Cheating b'stards.

As el presidente, I have made an executive decision today that there shall be no AGM of owners this year.
The AGM should have been held in March but due to the lockdown it was not posssible to hold a meeting. As we are now in July, I have invoked the "extraordinary circumstances" clause and will carry on for a further year as President, with the budget at the same figures as last year.

Do you get a good turnout or is it just you and a couple of others. Our Apartment block in Frigiliana was frequently three people and the Administrator.
El Presidente was UK based and used to come specially for the AGM and the following Curry.

C16, OTOH I used to use a small village Mercedes specialist. One Sunday, 200 miles from home I rang him up. He was 200 miles further north. I described the problem. Probably the crank shaft sensor, wait and it should start. It did. Next day crankshaft sensor changed.

He was an engineer not a fitter. His dad must be in his 80s, used to work on Yorks. Don't know what will happen when dad moves up as they replaced their wooden shed in the back garden with a superb modern shed. The village is in the middle of nowhere and son lives 15 miles away.

Afternoon all, getting a bit warm here, outside thermometer seems to be reading just over 80F so it'll get hotter before it cools.

Down to three puppies now, all the others have gone to their new homes and these are waiting until after 4th July for fireworks reasons, then one goes on Sunday and the other two on Monday. About to sign their mother up for some agility courses so she can go do fun things again.

Reminds me of story of guy who got a text from SM at work early one Winters morning. "Help Windows frozen. Won't open". He replied "Pour some boiling water around the edges". Half hour later received reply "Laptop now emitting lots of smoke & a burning smell".

Raining, cold, wind hitting our side of house all night. Trains south today to land of the sun.
