Unlikely Fliegs probably lone or with younger males. A pride has one male plus youngsters and females. He gets to bonk all the females. And they get him his dinner.
Oh ok, thought he would have females with him, but you think not?

Absolutely delighted for you Hands, may Billy have a long and successful life.
Washed Mrs 1DC's car before she went to play golf, it was very dirty. Apparently the bloke who owns the local car wash sacked all his Kosovans when they went into lockdown and they all went home. He wants them now but they aren't inclined to return unless he gives them better conditions so he is trying to decide what to do before he opens. I don't think it occurs to him to pay decent wages and easily get labour..
If that's the one opposite Hawthorne, we used to use it. Efficient but not that happy.
The one at Crowders in Horncastle was better. One chap had is wife here and two children in the local school. Even polished dull headlights for £20.

One needs the landowners' permission in the UK before gleaning for fallen timber.
On Amorgos we are surrounded by olive groves. If prunings are not stacked we take them. We know all the owners and those who take the wood which involves donkeys.

Just had a painful interview with the gardener who is night security at weekends. He had marked down a patrol at 03.00. I know he didn't do it as I was awake. Even shown himself asleep on CCTV he still claimed he did it. Then we get the blank expression and refusing to accept that it was him in the chair. Then we get the double negatives. ~X( Anyway I crossed off 03.00 and he didn't argue. I think a financial adjustment is required for missed patrols and double penalty for patrols incorrectly written up.

No this is a transit area they breed further north. Very little grub for them around here.

Ex-A, a job I had was looking after a 24/7 computer system. The backup system was in a vault on a secured building. Plods were supposed to check every 6 hours.
One Sunday I went in to find that checks for the next 2 visits had already been signed off.
I took the sheet to Comcen and had it time stamped. I gave the sheet to the senior duty Plod.
Next morning OC Plod asked did I want to press charges. If he was charged he would have reverted to LAC from LAC A/Cpl Unpaid and have to remuster to a different trade
If I left it to OC Plod, rest assured he exact due restitution.

Having a body that has got used to requiring sustenance on a regular basis today is deemed to be shopping day once again.Seeing as Stone Fruit season is at an end, decisions will need to be made as to what in the way of fruit will substitute for the winter season, decision's decision's.

With respect to the Cape Town forest fire(s) and the destruction of UCT's Jagger library, a little nugget of good news.

I've just had lunch, consisting of bread, aged cheddar, branston pickle, a little side salad, a little roast pork (as pork pies aren't easy to come by here), I would consider this to be a Ploughman's lunch.

(I spent the morning weeding, mowing and tilling a veggie patch, so I was something of a Ploughman anyway.)

As I sat here washing lunch down with a Pint of Pale Ale, it occurred to me to see what a Ploughman's lunch is worth nowadays. I googled the pubs I'd worked in or remember visiting in the UK, and I could not find a ploughman's on the menu anywhere!

My first trip to the UK would have been around about 1983 (?), flew into LGW with CX from HKG via BAH, probably about 08:00 arrival or thereabouts, and My Great Aunt took us all out to lunch at the Brown Trout Lamberhurst, just outside Royal Tunbridge Wells...we had a 'Ploughman's' as above.

So what's happening there? I thought it was virtually required by law to have it on the menu?

Likewise here - I have tried all those that I can think of and they are either not doing food at present or are too fancy to have a simple bread and cheese snack!

He was miles away, if right outside the noise would have shook the house. You can hear the roar from 8 kms. We have been right alongside a few in full roar. It is not scary he is just telling other males he is there. Humans are not lion food they will only attack under certain circumstances which you avoid.

Going into town.

The landlady of my local pub tried to reintroduce a Ploughman's back onto the menu
about 2 years ago. It didn't last long, nobody ever ordered it which surprised me.
In the 70's and 80's it was staple pub grub.

Mr Sun is nicely above the horizon now and upping the temperature hopefully.
+1C at present 17°C forecast.

No lions spotted or heard this morning.

Morning. Life with the Lyons. Remember that? Part of my boyhood. Always thought they were real Lions that could talk.

Slightly cloudy out and maybe some rain coming. N E Iberia really dry.

Living in Africa, constantly being chased by lions wasn't easy, but we knew we could muck through the feline torment, because we had the best of British bicycles! =))

British Bicycles.JPG

The all steel bicycle! I am not sure about steel, but mine was often stolen!

"Sir I couldn't do my homework because a lion stole my satchel and my bicycle!" Cue laughter from the class and another caning!

I love the emphasis on how fast the bicycle goes by the small picture on the right. Thanks! Next advertisement perhaps: Five Boys Chocolate?
