Does St Athens have any RAF presence these days?
.

You would have to ask RiS about that one. ;)))

What were they thinking about :-o

Wouldn't there be a market just amongst the psychologists and psychiatrists to try their hand at Healing Hitler? :-?
I'm sure it would feature in their conversations at conferences or over drinks with fellow shrinks. :-??

St Athan was the scene of one of my many faux pas, where I sat talking to the proud civilian owner of an ex-RAF Jet Provost and said something like "did you hear about that dingbat who dropped his brother out of his Provost while doing aerobatics near Colchester?" to which he replied "I was that dingbat!".

Coincidentally both Halliday and Langdon died at the early age of 64. There is a Beatles' song somewhere in that.
I greatly doubt that either one of those guys asked the other that question. ;)))

Just received news that one of my old Johannesburg classmates from my misspent schooldays was found dead, apparently from a heart attack at home, at the tender age of 59. The grave yawns wider by the day, the grim reaper waves his sickle, and the fates turn out to be so fickle.

RIP Bart, you were a total bastard but you didn't deserve this early exit from the silly game called life.

My father died of a heart attack at 58 years old, it was an odd feeling year from my 58th birthday till my 59th.

My better half made some helpful comment about one's 59th year being a difficult one to survive when I mentioned this bad news. What a Job's comforter she is, as we are both 59 years old! =))

My grandfather died at 48 and my father at 59. In both of those years of my own age I shared your apprehensions.

Didn't stop me from drinking whisky and beer and gin, though.

Both my grandfathers died before I was born.

My father died while my wife was preggers with our son.

When Dil told us she was preggers, I got very twitchy.

Grandson is now 16!

Passed my grandfather 6 years ago and my father at 5. I have 6 years to go to beat my great great grandfather and 8 years more to catch his son. On the maternal side I am the same age as my grandfather and much older than his father who fell off a horse.

OK, picture this. A sticky fly paper hanging from the ceiling. Not new, it has collected some tributes. Enter the villain: Cosmo the kitten. He's grown enough that he managed to pull it down from the ceiling and as a result it attacked him and he had to be rescued from it because fly paper doesn't care, it will stick to anything.

We haven't tried bathing him yet, but he still has some sticky patches on his fur and occasionally one of us will attack him with a comb or brush. I bet he hasn't learned though.

Our Visiting Cat gets lots of burrs tangled in its fur, even worse, pine resin. She has become so used to us in a few weeks that we are now allowed to deal with it.

Mother died at 84, father like most of his male ancestors died at 92 and was still healthy. I doubt that OFSO will make that.
