I was working at Silverstone over the weekend at a Classic Car Show. Lots of all the sort of stuff you'd expect, but what surprised me was the number of De Loreans which turned up - 15 in all. I didn't think there were that many left. I was chatting to one owner, who gave me the impression that they are an expensive mistress, with what he described as the turning circle of an old London bus. They went off to do a lap of he circuit and a young chap came up to me and asked where they had gone. "Back to the Future," was my answer, which of course went totally over his head.

Excellent 4mastacker :-bd
We're still in contact with Verity who did my interviews at the time of my heart op.

Vis ok but with broken clouds at 1000'. Sunny intervals with showers forecast for the day.
13°C hopefully rising to 20°C.

Bloods results back earlier from yesterday's stabbings. Billy appears to be in fine fettle.

Nothing planned for the day - at least not by me. Others may differ.

The sense of sadness is compounded by the news that his beautiful Swedish wife is also very ill with cancer and her prognosis is very poor indeed!

We seem to be living midst a veritable tornado of death at the moment...

:(
The goods news here is that she is now recovering at home, and is better than she was. The sad new is she was not able to be with her husband when he died! As usual, my better half is far better informed about local affairs than I am.

Scaffolding going up on the southern side of the house. Having all the brick repointed. The chap who is doing the job is being assisted by his daughter. He did the eastern side some time back and did a good job. Was on time and you always know where you are with him. His daughter also clearly knows what she is doing.

Morning,
24c guess 27c. Broken as predicted, must extend all the way to EMA.
still it's warm and calm.

Lost a crown on Sunday on the ritual Bacon Butty.
As I was passing Fang Fettler yesterday afternoon, between eventual parking and ATM I stuck my head in.
Result ! appointment for this afternoon. Must work on my right arm sensitivity. :)

There are many more tourists than usual.

Is all until the Kraken wakes.

Wodders, yes, it is remarkable how we can now get dental appointments on demand. What happened to the back log, especially after months of shut down.

Morning folks. The idiot painter hadn't put the lid on a paint tin properly, ended up with a litre over the kitchen floor dropped from a great height. Trying to clean up the mess when our chap arrived for a bollocking about his recent performance, or non performance. Now banned from talking on the phone at work.

Non schedule town day to get driving licences, again. Cop shop first to get a report on the theft of Mrs Ex-Ascot's then a relatively quiet Dept of Transport. Pulled the OAP card and jumped the queue. I really need glasses to drive but don't wear any. Found a very old pair of glasses the other day so took them with me for the eye test but left them in the car. Tried the eye test without and failed miserably. Got the glasses but could still hardly see a thing. I guessed a lot and she passed me. I am sure I failed. Anyway, sorted for another 5 years

Next planned court date is 16th Sept but we do not know how many days yet.

Twelve trees being felled today as they fell foul of the 6 metre rule from our 11kv power line. No great loss as all but one are Sycamore weeds. Lots of potential firewood for the woodburner from the trunks that are too large for the chipper and with only 3 trees down so far we already have a huge pile of chippings for weed suppressant in the garden.

Broke the side off a heavily filled molar at the weekend - no pain so it's a five week wait for an appointment, and that's private, not NHS! Would be the same day if in pain. There are three dentists in the practice but only one dentist works at a time and only one patient is allowed in at a time so not surprising there's still a backlog. Reception staff work from home.

In Figueras this morning to get limping wife fixed up with new glasses. A proper optician, not Specsavers. Cunning old chap who did all the measurements has retired and been replaced by an AI robot. Lenses and frames €1200. Spain is notorious for high prices. However, we get a second pair for free which slightly reduces the pain. But only slightly.

Wife offered memory metal frames. Said no thanks, the last pair got Dementia and broke. Shop staff fell about laughing. She's gone for conventional two-way hinges.

My only experience with a 'Bongo Van' was as a model one....both engine out performance was appalling...worse was the 'Ducted Fan' version....dreadful.

How did both donks out handle in real life Pinky?

My thought to all who go through a hard time either themselves or their families

I am doing cat-sitting for the three cats my sister has. My sister left me a good supply of Red beer and chips.

This is the local (closest) metar LGTT 031200Z 36009KT 310V030 9000 NSC 43/03 Q1012= I love dry heat

A fire not far from the airport may impact the electricity supply of the city.

Well, that went stunningly impressive. No-show by the cameraman and my contribution is on the cutting room floor.

Still, I got to rub shoulders with the Duke of Rutland.

That's show business for you! Sorry to hear it. Not good form by the folks who were meant to do the interview mind!

Oh well Ethel Merman might improve things (or not)... ;)))

The Goblin is hopping around with delight, having just booked two tickets to The Battle of Britain Airshow at Duxford in September. My Obergruppenführer will be accompanying me. I am pleased that she appears to enjoy these shows as much as I do. :frog:

Loganair take off from Kirkwall with a lady in the left hand seat. I use the ferry to get to Kirkwall because I get 12 free trips per year, the flight (timetable) would cost me £19 return, there is a complex fare structure!

The full size ducted fan version G-FANS was based in our hangar at Shoreham in the late 70's. Its test pilot was Neville Duke. Such a pleasant and unassuming man to talk to - I felt very priviliged. He was very amused to hear how, when I was 8, he had scared me during his low level record breaking run in the red Hunter off the coast at Worthing and I was paddling in the sea. Apparently I ran screaming back to Mum.......
