Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
After suffering a stroke a few years ago I was advised to lay off the spirits and ease back on the wine. I did as I was told and seemed to drift into a life of hardly any alcohol. Apart from the fact that I seemed to sleep better I haven't seemed to get any other benefits whatsoever. I don't feel any better for it, haven't lost any weight and life doesn't seem any different.

Not in Spain. Supermarket wine costs about the same as premium bottled water. My father in law and brother in law had a competition to see who could buy the cheapest drinkable wine. Came in a plastic box. Just about consumable.

My beef with alcohol free beer was it tasted sweet if left on the bottle even for a couple of minutes. Currently a local brewery developed a technique which produces a very acceptable lager but with a 0.04% alcohol content.
G-CPTN, I am not sure an alcohol free night out is cheaper. Some tasty beverage without alcohol are more expensive than a standard drink

Just dropping in, whilst on family holiday, anyone see a nutter waving at the Dawlish seafront webcam at about 1500 BST, guilty M’Lord

Hope Mrs OFSO recovers quickly, that all sounds most painful and unnecessary - sympathy to her.

Spare a minute today to remember our friend and traveler and scammer of scammers, Capetonian, who passed away a year ago. A sad loss to this website and to his many friends.

+1 Exchanged a few pm's with him on occasion and greatly appreciated his sense of humour.Spare a minute today to remember our friend and traveler and scammer of scammers, Capetonian, who passed away a year ago. A sad loss to this website and to his many friends.

Morning folks.
Trying to console myself over paying black-market prices for our 10 cases of beer I worked it out in cost per pint: £1.50 Happy now. The trick now is to ration it until the end of the booze ban. Trouble is that the end is a guessing game. First one was 3 months then a 2 month one next a 1 month one. We have been going for just over 3 weeks now.
Sorry OFSO our posts crossed but on different threads. We were absolutely delighted that Mike and Carmen visited us here and on Amorgos. We will miss his wit and repartee as well as many more qualities.

Morning all.
Doesn't seem a year has passed.
This morning is a normal blue sky with 21c going up into 30s later.
Today is grandson's birthday. Meeting him for lunch after he has finished his football camp.
Had to take Ed to vet last night as he was hobbling about again. Another €20 and anti inflam and biotic mixed injection.
Seems ok this morning.

New Gym is proving very enjoyable, not the camaraderie of years past at the Ashmore PCYC....but then they didn't have a Sauna & Lap pool, and a 180 deg view around either.
I do miss the full on classes of the old place, not that I could manage them now...but looking to gradually get back that level of fitness...some treadmill work today, rowing machine, light weights, then heavy bag work before Sauna & laps....

Gyms are not places for camaraderie, they are places of toil, pain and torment leading to a modicum of fitness... something akin to the outer circle of Dante's Inferno!EA01 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:59 amNew Gym is proving very enjoyable, not the camaraderie of years past at the Ashmore PCYC....but then they didn't have a Sauna & Lap pool, and a 180 deg view around either.

Good for you EA01.
They are also sometimes full of yummy mummies which leads one to thoughts that Dante Alighieri might have suggested would lead one to Hell!

Morning all,
Clear, blue, 25c with a guess of 28c same as the last few when in fact we had highs of 35,32,31
good at guessing this one.
SM has departed for the Health Centre to be administered an antibiotic injection, first of a seven day course.
On her return I get the Post Office to see if I can get the package(s) released.
Why does she mail order from the UK nowadays ?

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
I was on a train to Torquay a few years ago, and the weather was beautiful. The sea was dead flat calm, there was a slight mist, and hazy sunshine. It looked like a Turner painting. I was only reminded of that when Mother Nature took a dislike to that stretch of rail, and washed away all the supporting structure. A fickle mistress, she is.

Our old group would band together and do this....this is not our course, but similar...of course it is always held in winter...Gyms are not places for camaraderie, they are places of toil, pain and torment leading to a modicum of fitness
So, yeah, we had a heap of camaraderie...... a heap of team work!! ...we were the "BG"s, 'big guns'...
We were actually Alcoholics with a fitness problem really...
.....But those days have passed, and I work out alone in 'my' new Gym now....Tracey, Jamie, Anthony, Damian, Elisha, Nikki, Lisa & Bonnie have all moved on....still in contact with Skye & Linda, .... But I could not imagine making a 'serious' attempt at a course like that now....
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
And then there were the 'night attack' events...
Miss those days....good people...we had a 'tight' group back then...

It is suggested that '6' might appear on the thermometer overnight....that would be the coldest this year.....anticipating a mere 19c after that....also the coldest this year....
