As Capetonian stated, border security WRT school parties was extremely lax in the 1950s, and I succeeded in importing several otherwise banned or dutiable items - purely because there were no checks - the group leader would collect the passports and get off the bus to show them to whoever, however, on my final (school) trip, the Customs decided on a purge and we were all instructed to line up with our luggage.
The previous coach party received a thorough going over with every bag opened and riffled through.
As we were unprepared for this, I was sh1tting bricks as my turn approached.
When my turn came they decided to stop 100% bag searches - they missed mine but opened the next one and thereafter every alternate bag.
Needless to say, I never ever contemplated 'smuggling' anything contraband ever again - and I travelled to and fro many times after that (and before the EEC/EU happened).

'Do you need anything for the weekend'.
Wasn't that something a gentleman's hairdresser said, pointing discreetly at the London Rubber Company's products?

Reminds me of the joke about the guy with a Dreyfuss style twitch who wondered why he was always given condoms by the pharmacy when he went in to ask for a packet of aspirin!

Comment innuendo intended. If he had taken something for the weekend maybe his 16 year old girlfriend wouldn't have got up the duff.

Sundowner scotch by the pool (photo taken just now) to try to remind ourselves that the problems of living here are worth it.

I have always loved two English words more than any others.

Innuendo, because it is an innuendo and thus is self describing.

The other one is "frog"! Why? Cos it makes me smile! =))

Work is a 4-letter word. Retirement is much less stressful.
Had to write up some Minutes of a Golf Club sub-committee meeting but will be out on the golf course at silly o'clock tomorrow morning (on the tee waiting until it is light enough to see where a ball is heading - about 7:45 tomorrow)

An "extremely heavy" hippo has been stolen.

I'll drink to that right now! 🥃

Morning. 8am in these parts. The home met thingy shows 20C so it's too cold to go for a run around the traps. The little bloke is busting his left nut to jump in the Cub again. Guess this is quite understandable since his first circuit flown all by himself from startup to shutdown was only a week ago.

Since he's achieved aviator status his spensive drone Chrissy prez has been sitting in his room unused. I think we'll drag it out and fit the camera to it today since winds are light. We'll do the Cubbing tomorrow.

The relentless rabbit diet rolls on. My small begging bowl of raw oats with blueberries and a glass of OJ has been wolfed. Lunch will be my usual pile of 🥗 with lashings of extra virgin olive oil, but a chook sossie has been promised if I don't do any bitching! :)

Hope the latest tree fall sah won't block the arrival of your newly acquired bronze hippo that's expected to fall off the back of a truck soon? ;)))

Caco you're up late. Come over here for a while and enjoy a nice soothing glass of Southern Comfort moonshine that'll put you to in the land of Nod in no time. :)

Apsara will make up your bed upstairs if you can't be bothered going home while relaxingly sloshed. :D

I look forward to aviating with you too sir but only as your humble first officer. I will act as your EGPWS and make the HERE COMES THE PAIN BABY! HERE COMES THE PAIN! callouts in a very timely manner if and when appropriate. 😌

Sick of de-icing.
Now on holidays. Heading to San Francisco.
It's not going to be very warm there, although you probably won't find ice not in drinks. It's been somewhat damp today, a few light and scattered showers, and some glimpses of rainbows when driving home.

Still dark outside. Might have to turn the car lights on going into town.

Tamla Motown is 60 today.

That reminds me of a time a friend's husband was picking his nose when driving. She used the right elbow saying, 'stop doing that'. Managed to ram his finger right up his nose, blood everywhere. They are no longer married.

Nice day bit hazy 25 degs but we will get into the 30s. Not much planned.

No sign of a bronze hippo but probably safer to have around than the real things.

Another bitter morning in Catalunia Nord, wind still blowing, house freezing. Mrs OFSO insisted in letting Muffalo in; after fifteen minutes of deafening miouws and throaty purrs I evicted him in the direction of a bowl of milk in the front yard and peace descended on Chateau OFSO.
