Hmmm. MrsP has obtained a mint plant. Now, I KNOW she doesn't like mint sauce, so I have high hopes that a mojito may be in the near future. Wonder where she hid the rum.

Serious warning:- Don't be tempted to plant mint in 'open garden' - it will spread and takeover.
If you must plant it outdoors, first bury a sold-bottomed container such as a bathtub or a water tank to contain it.
In our first house I planted a herb garden and the mint choked-out everything else.

You have been warned!

I think must be related to stinging nettles.

Thanks, G-CPTN, I was aware of mint's invasive tendencies. I have a 15" pot to plant it in, and if it gets too big I'll just drink lots of mojitos, then I won't care.

Thanks Magnus: I have an idea for a new plant

Caught a fish today. Rainbow trout on a nearby loch.

Has the rain given all those demonstrators in Whitehall a good soaking?

Washing away their contamination. And water-soluble placards, no doubt.

On the last day of the sustained hot dry weather that we had I top-dressed and over-seeded
my back lawn. Since then it has rained every day. What wonderful timing.
I now have a full time job chasing off the wood pigeons that think it's free nosh time.

Mrs HF is not a happy bunny. I strongly suspect food poisoning as she reheated some quiche
for her evening meal yesterday. Not unusual for her as she claims to have iron guts. Well not this time.
I've resisted saying "I told you to bin it". I do feel sorry for her though as she is rarely ill and looks
quite pitiful as she lies in bed, bucket by her side.

Current Wx overcast, gently raining and 11C. Forecast is for much of the same.

My support for Mrs HF. I sympathise with her as I do keep food and refuse to bin it

It is a little less sunny here today with quite a bit of cloud about. Stll, its 21c already.

Having a family gathering at daughter's later as today is Mrs IB's 71st birthday.

Taking Ed for a walk on the paseo now, as BBC Breakfast is unwatchable with two muppet presenters today and obviously and an editor of similar ilk behind the scenes.

Hope Mrs HF gets better soon and the bucket in use is a plastic one and not a galvanised version.

Morning folks. Best wishes to Mrs HF from Bots and that the upchucking ceases. Ibbie your mention of galvanised is timely. 22 galvanised drums have just been purchased for Squiffy Pussy III. They have to be painted. Apparently they have to be cleaned first as the paint will not stick to the 'galvin'. No idea why. All the drums currently on board are second hand fuel drums from chopper operations in the bush. Not the best. They have to be chucked out if even dented. One can imagine the care local truck drivers use when handling these things. They last on average 4 years. Hope to get twice that on the new ones. It has been recommended to swish some used oil around the insides.

Usually drinkies at the local safari camp Sunday lunchtime. As a change for them they are coming here today. That could involve a one year old who I am training to say Malaka and destroy things. Oh dear.

Why paint the barrels if they are already galvanised?

Sympathies to Mrs HF - one had painful guts yesterday and was wondering what had caused it - some medicinal assistance was necessary to ease the pain.

Apparently the new DG of the BBC has to make lots of savings - should be quite easy; I can give him a pointer or three toward the wastes of oxygen who would not be missed.

Some good news forra change. #2 grandson's wounds are healing nicely and hospital have told his mum there should be no lasting physical damage. The police called to investigate the incident and asked #2 grandson what had happened. All they got out of him was "Doggy bitted me on my nose" in reply to all their gently put questions.

Ex-A, as I understand it, you may need to use specialist paint that will adhere to galvanised metal. Apparently Hammerite make such stuff - not cheap!!
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Morning all,
Just broken now, still 21c
We have an 80% guess of rain this afternoon/evening IN JUNE.
There was a big electrical storm out over the lake when doing the follow, long way away as inaudible.

Happies to *Mrs IB* and one hopes *Mrs HF* recovers soonest.

Christ Google is intrusive on the new phones, spent a big part of yesterday de googling one where possible.

Just one to do now, I'll start the process shortly after getting the BBQ ready for the Ritual.

When SM is doing the upstairs floors I'll take the RAV for fuel and see if the LOP light stays off.
