Handsfree, even worse than 'move it now' is 'I want it moved but not just now'.

This might be a finish your coffee pause, or it's too hot do it this evening, or even in the autumn when it's dormant.

Now the actually delay period is never specified until 'I asked you to. . .'

OFSOs instruction of NOW is the only safe interpretation.

I have learned over the years that the above is precisely what the Obergruppenfuhrer of the Pinky household requires. :-?

PS; can someone inform me of how to produce/insert the umlaut into the required space above? :D

Afternoon folks, a successful town day apart from gas. We did have a fuel problem now restricted per person but no gas. We should be OK for two months. After trying to open a bank account for 4 months we have one :-bd The paperwork was horrendous. The FNB (1st National Bank) is always busy. Normal queuing time 2 hours as most companies pay employees through the FNB. A slightly up market bank is the Stanbic. They were just impossible with their requirements which were impossible to meet given our circumstances. Bank Gaborone was recommended by three people. Rarely a queue of more then a few people, charming helpful staff. Manager suggested ways around the ridiculous Bots banking regs for us. We implemented them and we are in. Active tomorrow and cards and cheque book in 10 days. Yes I know, but everyone uses cheques here. This is England 50 years ago right down to the strict lunch break 13.00 - 14.00.

+3 (me, SM and son). Son didn't have a chance really although we tried not to influence him.

UP, that description of the storm was just as we saw and heard it the previous night. Maybe for not quite as long, only two hours or so, but when you have a wife who is terrified of lightning, at least at those levels and frequencies, it doesn't make for a good night's sleep.

Pinky:
Type German letters with ASCII Code

There is an easy way to write the German characters ä ö ü and ß on a non-German keyboard:

Press NUM on the number pad of your keyboard to activate the NUM-lock. Then press ALT and keep it pressed while you type the code 132 on the number pad. 132 is the code for the letter ä, the a umlaut.

Use the ASCII codes in the following table for the other German letters. If it does not work with your keyboard, please send us an email: deutsch-online@web.de

ALT + 132 for ä a umlaut, small letter
ALT + 142 for Ä A umlaut, capital letter
ALT + 148 for ö o umlaut, small letter
ALT + 153 for Ö O umlaut, capital letter
ALT + 129 for ü u umlaut, small letter
ALT + 154 for Ü U umlaut, capital letter
ALT + 225 for ß eszett or sharp s

If ALT + the three figure number doesn't work, put a leading zero on the number

Morning everyone, much wetness falling from sky, washing the dust off the artificial grass and watering the remaining garden, which means one job less tonight. :D
So Woody, that means you are now down two jobs. =))

And ALT + 156 for £ if you don't have a UK keyboard.

For some reason the HD in our CCTV has un-formatted itself. Can't see how this can happen. Called the installer and he said that he would look into it. In other words he wasn't sure what to do either. Bit of research and I formatted it. That has saved a huge call out fee. Must monitor it though.

We have a new system for the night guards. They are supposed to do an hourly patrol of the estate. Convinced that they do until we go to bed then settle down in the chair and sleep all night. Now they have to write down the time they start each patrol, it doesn't matter 5 minutes or so either way. Probably best not to have an exact schedule. Then in the morning i check the CCTV to see if they told the truth. Told them I wanted lots of spotlight flashing around so everyone knows that they are there. Senior one was not happy with this he is worried if he is seen he may get attacked. Asked him if he wanted the job or not. Lots of spot light activity last night. They are paid 100 BWP a night. 10 patrols a night. If we start to have problems with them missing rounds 10 BWP off for each patrol missed. That should concentrate their little minds. They have an easy job. Most night guards are supposed to patrol all night.

Evening all,
Been a fine day, just starting to cool from the 32c maximum. Cloudless all day.

Got the "are you still alive" letter from the pension provider, they now have an alternate to a witnessed form just give them a ring.
Done.

I struggle with the pond, thick algae, the chemicals are spot on (ph and C) and I have dosed it with algicide, just keeps on coming back.
It is crystal clear.
Spent an age sweeping the pond floor when it breaks free and floats then I net it off.

Beer Time.

A quiet day around. I managed to pick up some lab results and completed a short visit a Lidl to see if there is anything interesting on next weeks leaflet there aren't

Ex-A nice idea to check time and CCTV for the night guards. A general question about guard duty: back during my military service the commander (Group captain /colonel or I am not sure to translate his rank) insisted during a pre-briefing exercise to complete the guard change duty as schedule without delay as it would be noted by the "opposite forces". I thought it would be better to do as you say maybe have some minutes late some minutes early. Without divulging any NATO secrets what is better from military security perspective?

If a patrolling guard operates a regular schedule, then the 'enemy' can operate in-between the patrols.

I've seen it on War films of prisoner-of-war camps.

Leak in pool valve worse. Pool people coming up Monday. If they say needs a new valve, bugger the expense of 75 m3 water, will drain pool yet again and replace all 35 year old valves. Most are stuck anyway.
