Notice that there is an influx of peeps to this site. Must be refugees from TOP.
Yup, we acquired 25 new members in the space of 48 hours. I looked in there briefly, as a guest, and there we were as large as life in a reference to the whereabouts of Slasher. I do a bit of checking before approving, so kept me quite busy.

Good to see you back LG.

Alison
PS. Haven't seen any of the newbies here in the Crewroom. Do you think we are too rowdy for them?

C16, last time we had a major water main fail, the council set up collection points for bottled water. Some of the less scrupulous non-reflective shopkeepers in the area were sending kids to pick up the "free" water so it could be sold in the shops.

A day of wild, wild weather with tons of rain. After all the gloom and doom from global warmistas about a drying climate in WA we seem to be having a very normal winter. All water tanks overflowing and the river is quite high ready for the Avon Descent the weekend after this. Life is good.

Nice to see you LG, it is still 'ot and 'orrid here today, promised rain on Friday.
Cabbage with fish for tea, glut of onions and shallots as well, I am sure it is very good for us, pity we can't grow beef burgers for a change.

Caco, doesn't look like a runway (in distance?) or even taxiway to me. Are you sure?

Hi De Hi,
Normal, but only a little warmer than the UK as reported.
Fed up of cheap, plastic tap adaptors for the irrigation and hoses I bought a couple of brass ones.
Have rearranged and renewed so no leaks and it all works.

Enuf forza day

Time for a Duff.

Small BBQ for just Mrs IB and I tonight.

It is a hot one. Still 35c in Garden Bar shade.

Welcome to all recently joining.

I am sitting watching the maintenance crew on the other runway as I type this.

Big Cb forming in the background.

Heat damage forces German airport to close
Summer holidaymakers have suffered delays at Germany's Hannover airport after extreme heat caused a runway to buckle.

Germany's Hannover airport has reopened after days of extreme heat damaged a runway and forced it closed for repairs.

News agency DPA reported that airport officials said departures resumed with a flight to Amsterdam just after 6.30am (2.30pm AEST) on Wednesday.

The airport was shut on Tuesday evening because parts of the surface of one of the runways buckled as a result of the heat and the other runway was closed for maintenance work.

The closure hit during the busy summer holiday period and some passengers spent the night at the airport.

Like much of Europe, Germany has been experiencing prolonged high temperatures.

The mercury is expected to keep climbing in the coming days, with top temperatures on Friday reaching 38C.

The boys have departed.

Having the paddlng pool set up for them ensured that the garden was watered and thus, saved me a job. :-bd

Will be having a cool beer after the routine of pricking me finger.

My pickup truck has an incredibly slow leak from the coolant onto the ignition, which causes plug and coil failures every so often. I discovered this from a guy who bought my camper last week, who had owned the same model truck for 7 years and explained why the coil failures were happening. The internet could not tell me this.
My local scrappie just fitted a bypass hose to avoid the leaking unit on the throttle, as separately recommended by both the camper guy and one of the scrappie's mechanics. Cost of new intake unit and fitment at a dealers, $800+. Cost of bypass pipe and fitment at scrappie, $20. And I got my fixed truck delivered to my door.

Beer O'clock on this side of the Pond now also!

Morning all. The commute has been succesfully accomplished. It involves a tricky descent of the stairs and a diversion via the bog before kitchen, kettle on and pot of tea made. The tea is a very nice Loolecondera BOPF. Two tablespoons in a French press (coffee pot makes a great tea pot). Then negotiate the landing and here I am at the command and control centre. All is well and I can handle the pressure.

Sorry Ken, but you're going to have to include METARS to be taken seriously.

A fresh 17C looking at 30C later.
Prob 30% of heavy thunderstorms late afternoon. Allegedly.

I can't make my mind up as to what to have for breakfast so I think I'll
grab a bit of sleep and decide later.

Morning folks.

A bit of a cooling breeze here before the predicted furnace arrives.

Bit of a bump on the road outside the house. The bloke in the van which was at the back of the three vehicles which tried to occupy the same square foot of road is not a happy bunny. Much pointing and harsh words. I think mobile phones may have been involved.

Been up since silly o'clock thanks to the IF and the *£#@!& chest aches. Painkillers had nil effect. I gather the aches can last long after the shingles, lesions and infection, have gone. :( Another 'hottest day of the year' looms with, as handsfree says, the threat of thunderstorms later. I shall remain in darkened room for the day.

Back in Blighty last night and it was fiendishly hot down in our neck of the woods at around 23:00 hrs.

Sitting watching the sulphurous haze dissipate as another hot day winds up but there be Cb's on the horizon...

I understand the aches from Shingles, which as you say can last for a long time, are precipitated by nerve damage. Alpha Lipoic Acid can help significantly in repairing said damage. Available in capsules - recommended dosage 2 x 300mg per day.

Morning. Another hot day coming up, but with less humidity.

I'm off to Malaga Airport Museo to meet some chaps from Liverpool who run an aircraft site on the web and give them a quick tour of the facility.
