Shame on this fool!
But he makes the point of 'true marriage equality'...My point being that his arguement was only ever a matter of time after the same sex marriage,....and enough someone will come along and demand their right to marry their 6 yr old love interest.

And on it will go...

The concept of "marriage" between close relatives should be carefully legislated. It ain't healthy folks, so your point is moot! We have enough webbed fingers in society!

Webbed fingers impede good banjo playing! ;)))

Whilst common in many countries today it also happens here (rarely) where brother and sister live together as man and wife though not actually married. Of course we don't know if their relationship is platonic or not.

In our last village there were two sisters that lived together as husband and wife. They were in their 70s.

My Point was that after Same sex marriage, not unpredictably, came a push for this incestuous marriage, and what then comes after?, and after that?

You have to love EA01, here we are thinking about wagtails, the weather and the like, and he throws a big clunker of a grenade of an issue like this into the ring! I feel another song might be necessary... =))

Is it me, or is one of the guests on that show Bernie Madoff? @-)

Oh, ok sorry!....No actually 'Soz, not Soz'...as the younger generation say,.....but....the thought of legally agreeable incestuous marriage is, well, according to him at least simply a matter of equality. And of course he is correct in that respect. So what is the next new 'woke' acceptable, not previously acceptable 'norm' in society? Where does it stop?

Start a thread on the philosophical, ethical, cultural, financial and societal meaning and purpose of marriage, and good luck to you mate! :))

Oh ....ok....wrong place whatever.......I am not in agreement with it, but having said that, someone (most likely my SIL) will term me a bigot because I don't think that..... incest ...is healthy or natural....

Or more likely she'll rage against me for not being inclusive enough, whilst being exclusive of me....

Is there a Lighthouse somewhere I can just disappear to?

I seem to have a copy of the aforementioned photo here but not signed. Geoff to the left of HRH, then Ian Anderson (Nav) then a very young Ex-Ascot.

Yes, that's the Geoff Williams I remember. Did a couple of South American trips with him.

Seriously though, I know how you feel. Sometimes I feel the same but all the bloody lighthouses are automatic these days.

TGG, marriage between first cousins is permitted and we csn see the effects in some countries today where it is common. Incest is also practised in some countries and counties too.
However with marriage between first cousins they often chose not to have children. Two of my wife's family in the 19th Century made that decision.
I am reminded of the old expression 'Don't have children with your cousin unless you know where you can buy a three-sleeved jacket.'

Bad news in Cape Town...
WILDFIRE ENGULFS TABLE MOUNTAIN
‘Water bombs’ are being dropped by helicopters, but this operation is likely to be a large one. The plumes of smoke can be seen from miles away, and the wildfire appears to be halfway up the iconic landmark. We are awaiting a statement from the relevant firefighting authorities about the nature and cause of this inferno.

Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and Lion’s Head are all susceptible to veld fires, and the jewel in Cape Town’s tourism crown has been badly affected this morning. We can confirm that National Park officials, Working On Fire, and NCC Wildfires are all at the scene tackling the blaze – with the fire now reaching down to Philip Kgosana Drive.

My ex-wife notes...
Though there is now a fire out of control in the Newlands/Rhodes Memorial area and they are asking that hikers evacuate the area and for cars to be moved so emergency vehicles can get through.

The Rhodes Mem restaurant has been destroyed and UCT is now in danger.
