Very painful to see EA01. It has been a very hot summer, I am shocked that this happened at this site which is so close to the city and right next door to the Newlands forest fire fighting HQ and helipad. I hope that this wasn't arson.

Hopefully it’s not going to be as bad as Knysna a couple of years ago .

Bushfire season? After last year, I think Australia escaped the bushfire season relatively intact. They had floods instead...

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
Sorry gentlemen for missing the Friday announcement but for the last 5 days I have not known what
day it is nor what the weather was.
Monday at midnight I got a call from the Transplant co-ordinator inviting me to come and collect a kidney.
Got back at teatime today with an extra kidney in my right groin and the good thing is this one works.
Very tired, very achy and ready for sleep. I shall read in later.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
What constitutes incest was, until recent legislation, defined by the Incest Act of, I think, 1537 in Scotland. That made reference to relationships prohibited by the Bible, which pre-dated the King James. In 1537, the definitive bible was the Geneva bible, of which one copy survives in Scotland. I had to do some digging for one of the High Court judges. Fortunately, he had access to the sanctum sanctorum of the National Library of Scotland and could look up the prohibited relationships for himself. Life was surprisingly interesting in a judicial library....

When you feel up to it it would be good to know why they do that instead of replacing an existing kidney.
Which is what I thought they did.

Hooray HF
When will the new organ be up to speed doing its job?
It needs to do some serious filtering of celebratory juices!

Excellent news hf, I suppose that we can let you off from your dereliction of duty

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
I always thought they took one out and put another in its place but learned some time ago that they just add the extra one and plumb it in. I assume if there are other reasons for removing an existing one (cancer or other nasty problem) then they would take it out. There are always risks with removing something if you have to cut stuff, so I can see that it's probably safer to just let it stay.Wodrick wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 4:51 pmWell that is great news, congratulations on your addition.handsfree wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 4:35 pmMonday at midnight I got a call from the Transplant co-ordinator inviting me to come and collect a kidney.

Just checked with our retired Medico. She says usually put in lower abdomen, etc. Quote: "as long as it's connected up well, it'll be fine.. "

Really life changing news HF, don't worry about last Friday, you've just increased your stock of future Fridays.
I feel cheered up.

Ilondel, it is possible that the kidneys were not completely shot and might recover a little with the booster pack
Best wishes HF

Let me join the line to congratulate on the new kidney. I hope it will be the beginning of a good co-operation between you and the new organ
