It's like the weather of old now, Glorious Sunshine from Dawn through till about 2pm, when the storms start coming in, full on Storm from about 3 to 4, Sunshine again thereafter until Sunset. Same as Yesterday. Though tonight there is a second line of storms approaching, my guess it is about 10 mins from now..

Only ever sold two houses. Can't remember about the first. The second the tenants bought it. Bought the house in Greece on the first viewing for almost the asking price which was peanuts, no agent. Also bought our ruin there for asking price, no agent, less than peanuts. Here was also on first viewing no agent but about two hours of negotiation. 8 years on worth 4x what we paid but we have invested in it considerably. He wants to buy it back but I told him he can't afford it. He wanted £10,000 for the ship. I tried to get him down another £10,000 on the house but he wouldn't shift. I said OK but throw in the ship and he did. I think that when we walked away there was a thoughts bubble.

Morning.
Blue and cold at 11c again. High of 21c is said to be possible later.

Aparently curfew start time is likely to go 00.00 later today, with province borders closed for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Rather posh minivan thing pulls up outside yesterday, British plates, more house viewers. Three this month, two others were Frog. More than in the last two years.
Do you have a sign on the property? Or are they responding to online advertising?

Morning,

Locally the only Strimmers were Stihl i.e. many € so I got one on offer from the Big River.
It will be here today.
It is a nine in one thing with several lethal attachments.
Hope it starts better than the old one which was difficult.

Best get a can of gasolina

Thanks for the nice comments peeps - much appreciated. Our lock restorations are now taking a break in order to gather resources and, most importantly, some dosh so we can tackle the next two locks which will be done with minimal Canal & River Trust involvement. The break also gives my pink body a chance to recover from the hurty back I "earned" working on the re-build.

Lazy day today, the boys have gone back to their mum so one can now sup tea in relative peace - that is until Mrs 4ma decides to arise from her slumbers.

I'm loathe to shop at this place, but needed a new whipper snipper for the new lawn. I thought that is cheap enough, good name, and good reviews. I was wary of an electric / battery powered one, but no, fabulous for the area I need to do. Its no 'Brushcutter', but fine for what I need, no mixing up 2 stroke fuel, just pull the trigger, auto feed line that comes in pre packaged spools, and...a button that rotates the shaft so that it goes from line trimmer to edger!! :)

Oooh I have a former colleague who now lives on the Reunion Islands.
Do you have any idea just where?
I'll ask him.
Reddo
I ain't going to drop in on him, but would like to know where he settled. What nationality is your friend?

We 1st went there on holiday Nov 91 and have been back 4 times. I fell in love with the Island.

The major problem there today is simply 'people!'
The population has just about tripled, and with it, so has the traffic.

Estate Agents sign. French see it, think "bugger that, I'm not paying an estate agent" and ring the bell. Well, I'd pay the agent, but they'd get the discount if I don't.

Looking at the web cams at Dawlish, it looks like an invasion fleet anchored up in Tor Bay - according to AIS there's at least 15 large vessels. Another ship is shown as heading into the bay for refuge.....does this mean there's a storm brewing?

EA01, I bought a Chink one, far superior to a similarly priced one from our big DIY shop. You can adjust the length too. Battery life is perfect, it dies just as SWMBO says 'Can you just...'

PN, mine is a Japanese company (Ryobi) , but who knows where it is actually manufactured...I'm surprised at how well it works. Operator issue too...I get better every time! Thought I was caught out with the packaged pre packed spool heads...$20 or a pack of 3...probably comparable to buying a line of snipper line...

EA, mine came with two but easy enough to restring the spools. I then bought their hedge trimmer too. Just as good though long handled version would have been better, I missed a trick there.

I think a few of them are cruise ships whose only occupants will be a skeleton Filipino crew I imagine. As for t'others, maybe they are there for some more SBS practice :))

We need a METAR for EGTE, don't we?

I can see five cruise ships in Torbay from my bedroom window in Paignton, apparently there are at least another four around the headland off Babbacombe.

Must be cheap parking here.

Bloody hot had to take to my bed again this afternoon. In the pool now with a sunset beer. Moon has just risen.
