Condolences, Ibbie. The man in black with a scythe seems to be quite busy these days. I am also the oldest in the family now (AKA The Next To Go) , although NOT in my Pensioners Association where a lot of folks older than me are a lot more in the ball.

See HRH PP has already had a replacement identical motor delivered. Obviously got on the blower straight away without HMQ's knowledge. 'Get me another car please old chap, one pranged the last one' Me thinks that the keys will get hidden away in 'the' handbag.

Bit of confusion about his PPO. One report says he was in the car another says not. However the coppers were on the scene very rapidly so maybe he was being followed.

Bit stormy this evening, may have some rain with a bit of luck.

Just misread the headlines as "Prince Philip's car careened across the road". Hasn't been any bottom-scraping in The Firm since Mountbatten passed away.

Today I have been mainly hedge-laying.
There will be those of you who are familiar with hedge laying, but for those unacquainted with the activity it involves removing (by pruning) most of the small branches, then partially severing the main stems (usually using a billhook) and laying them at an angle along the length of the hedge so that new growth will fill in the gaps between the main stems.
When we arrived, the original hedge saplings still had the protective plastic 'swirls' (spiral guards) around the stems - so I have been laying down under the hedge and unwinding the brittle plastic which shattered into pieces (all of which must be retrieved) some ends of which were buried when the original saplings had been planted.

Hedge laying . . .

Now trying like mad to find out whether I can get, via telly or 'puter, the Edinburgh v Montpelier match tonight. I am NOT paying for another bloody sports subscription channel. If all else fails, I'll have to jump on a bus and freeze my 'nads off at Murrayfield.

A bit parky on me canal today - the water was frozen from bank to bank. The boat made some very satisfying crunching sounds as it glided through the ice; the resident swans were most appreciative of the channel we opened up for them.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Nice sunset. Our resident teenage hippo just dived below the surface before I took the photo. He is now almost two to the day born right in front of the house. Just had to retire indoors. Bloody mossies.

I debated but as the originals and the tale started here I decided on continuity.

I have just seen this post on Farcebook:
There will be a service at Telford Crematorium for Victor (VJ) & Edna Barnett on Tue 22 Jan at 10.00 am. VJ was a radar technician on 617 Sqn and Edna was a WAAF air traffic controller. They died within 10 days of each other and have no surviving family.

A somewhat dry day today with scattered cloud. Came home via an unusual route today, courtesy of various car accidents, and noticed two trains at one of the light rail stations. Driving further, there were barricades across the tracks and great big cables connecting the overhead wires to the tracks. Sure enough, a bit further along and there's a bunch of maintenance crews doing their stuff. Further still and there's more grounding cables and barricades and then a real train again. Anyway, the point of all of that was to lead up to the boring bit of information, which is that there were five trains working the section of line beyond that point, I saw them all at various times during my journey home.

Just read that one of the the Light Rail trains from Los Angeles to Santa Monica killed a pedestrian on the shared road. No details, but the road into S.M. still closed at time of writing.

No reports on Muffalo the banished recently, Apricot has taken to hiding mobile phones ;))) and is rapidly running up a charge sheet of misdemeanours :-q
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Speedy, alway used the #3 bus to get from Marriot LAX into Santa Monica. It gave me the option to jump off partway and head up Pico Blvd to McCabe's music shop.Almost came away with a nice little mahogany Martin one day.

Morning,
Miserable and grey again, 12c, 100% guess rain laters.

On the evening empty, 2330L just returning to the gate when a fox was sighted ambling up the track i.e. head on.
It wasn't ambling for long as my two gave hot persuit. Slinks soon lost interest and came home, she is a bird flusher, but Nearly Dally was gone for a while.

A normal Saturday methinks.

Muffalo has been re-admitted to Chateau OFSO under area limitations: No to kitchen, bedroom, guest quarters, pool etc. Last night he sprawled on top of me as I was on the settee, watching Supervet. Loud purrs. Then hunkered down on arm of settee, looking at my CCTV monitor displaying cold and windy front yard, purring even more loudly. Occasionally a soft paw - claws retracted - came over and pulled my hand to his head. At ten pm shown to front door with dish of milk outside.

as they raced through Cowdray Park in West Sussex, the Queen had 'yelped' under her breath causing Philip to shout 'Look, if you do that once more, I will put you out of the car.'
Good for him, why should he put up with backseat driving, even if it is the the Queen.
