The Derbyshire village where I was brought up 1943-59 had a recreation ground (the 'rec') which boasted a set of swings and a see-saw. They were chained up on Sundays just in case someone might enjoy themselves. I believe that the rules have now been relaxed.

Cool morning, hot day ahead. Wife preparing an unusual piece for south of France sculpture exhibition next month. Have to collect more conventional pieces from foundry on Monday. Backstrain country ahead.

Sky heavy with dark clouds. Awaiting the start of the deluge. 15C max 18C.

I've got vague recollections of the play area in our local parks being shut off on Sundays when I was very young, similar to Ricardian's experience.
Maybe Ibbie can confirm or otherwise.

At school we had a proper indoor pool. For some reason, maybe u/s, there was no pump. We just accepted that. We had these rather quaint rules: no swimwear lest it be dirty and sh oowering before and after swimming.

As there was no pump there were no chemicals but the pool was heated. How it was heated we didn't ask. We just accepted that.

As there was no circulation or chemicals the pool would turn green over time. We just accepted that. Only when it reached an unsafe level, ie you could not see the bottom, they refilled it. Took two nights as it deprived the village of water during the day. They just accepted that.

In the summer we would swim in the sea. It was probably warmer from the nuclear power station down the coast. We just accepted that. 😁

I have it on record that in rural Ireland, budgie swings were tied to one side of the cage so the little birds could not frolic on Sundays.

Good morning.

We have a new floor in kitchen. Only units, worktops and wall tiles to go!

Usual sunny day for the time of year, temperature passing 25.
I've got vague recollections of the play area in our local parks being shut off on Sundays when I was very young,
Can't remember that handsfree and Mrs IB cannot recall it either in the Kingdom of Mossley.

I do have recollections though of being chased from Stamford Park by the "Parkies" when together with a couple of mates, rode our bikes over the main bowling green. They didn't see it as funny!

Morning all,
As the other side of the bay wif a guess of 29. The pessimist has been on duty the last few as we have comfortably exceeded his guess.

you have all forgot so I have a go IT'S FRIDAY first time I done that.

Don't remember Sunday Swings in Salford, don't remember swings actually, all nicked.

Dunno about the other side but the world here closes 14.00 on Saturday except the Supermarkets and Restaurants. everything except Restaurants closed on Sunday.

We have to change Punto's diet and he will have a scan when the high power scanner and 'spurt are available.

Morning folks. 6 dgs at dawn 22 now. Clear blue sky. Did have a clear blue pool until I vacuumed it and stirred up all the sand on the bottom. We will get there.

We were not allowed to play outside on a Sunday. Mind you with matins, Sunday lunch, Sunday school (do they still exist?) and evensong there wasn't much bloody time left.

Bit of a f...ing big problem here. Solar system is down and of course it is weekend coming up. Phoned our man but his mobile was off. He spends a lot of time in the bush fixing and installing. e-mailed him for when he gets back. Got an e-mail back, in the bush looking at your system now This remote monitoring system is invaluable and a small percentage cost of the whole system. Don't know why everyone doesn't have it. Seems that the battery is not talking to the main system. He is trying a remote reset. He or the manufacture can do most things remotely unless a component is buggered of course. He says I may have to reset the battery manually. No idea how I do that.

Need power to filter the pool. Goodness how much the running of this genny is costing. Also a fuel run is 80 kms.

Edit, solar fixed. It did require me to switch the battery off. I had no idea how to do that. Got down on my hands and knees to look at the incredibly expensive beast. On the side was a button that said on/off. Without consulting a flt eng I took the risk of pressing it. It worked. Magic.

Last year down in Bournemouth we saw two amphibious board displayed. Once in shallows the wheels were extended and they could be driven ashore. One, French built, could be remotely controlled. You could go out for a splash, get lost, send a help request and the company could then sail it back for you.

Amazing the risks people will take when waiting for a flt eng doesn't involve staying in a 5* hotel by the pool on Rate 1's ;)))

A cold 28° up here in the north. Wasps ruined an excellent lunch. Never had this problem before. May put a net over the terrace table.

Supermarkets here all open non-stop every day, dawn to late dusk, except Mercadonna which is old Spanish. A Catalsn who is not making money is a dead Catalan. All descended from Jews..

Unbelievable what the human race descends to, buying someone's dirty bathwater.
Belle Delphine, an Instagram cosplay star, told her 3.9 million followers she would sell them her bath water.
The bottles were going for $30 (R400) each on her online store.
They sold out within three days, despite the idea being met with a fair amount of revulsion online.

Just had an earthquake around 5.1 Richter. Not a pleasant experience.

Very courageous decision to press the red button without taking advice from a FE.

Once had to have summat changed in Dakar. We had a load of fresh fruit and veg for ASI. They sent a C130. Two runs I think. I had the courtesy of saying good morning from the pool bar to the captain every morning and buying him a beer upon his return. Learnt a few new words from him.

Golly RiS. Epicenter very near by. Seems that no one was seriously hurt. Five days ago we could have been stuck in a lift there. Just think, you could have been stuck in a crowded lift for hours your face pushed up against big boobs.

I know folks, I was very brave. Here is a photo of the difficult decision. Guess if the error light came on it would refer me to the FMS.
