I always finish filling and replace the nozzle in the pump assembly, then check the amount of fuel and dollars showing on the meter, this procedure established a few years back when I was charged over $80. for a pump price showing just over $60. Didn't pay of course, they were trying to stick me for the $20 that the previous driver had put in his car then left without paying. Took a long time to sort out, and ended by being told never to darken their forecourt again, I responded that I never would, and never have.
.........as there are anti siphon devices.
And what a PITA they are too. We have a PITA discount system run by the AA ( automobile, not alcohol ) that needs a minimum of $40 to be spent to take advantage of any discount, ( and a degree in Higher Mathematics to take maximum advantage of the system ) but the motor bike will never take more than around $20, so I can't participate when I refuel the bike, so when the system was introduced I thought I could fill the car and get the maximum discount, then syphon it out to fill the bike at home. Doesn't work.

Went to my regular local filling station. Displayed price was correct by pump meter was about 40p, or 30% low.

Being the good honest citizen that I am of course I told them, after I had paid.😁

Incredible luck. Just pitched up at our tavern and our mayor, the Admrial, is here with half of his committee. They are planning to put in electricity to our village requested by the frog tourists who have holiday homes there. We do not want it. He implied it was just a vote winner and will never happen.

Capt the kissing is mainly old ladies and men.

We have discussed menu plan with our chef here.

Your safe arrival is noted Mr and Mrs Ex-A.. I trust your stay in the EU is enjoyable.

Can't you get the mayor to sacrifice a tourist frog for Easter?

There has been a downpour here whilst I was out with Ed. We were down near the castle on our walk and just suffered a few spots of rain.
Driving back roads were awash, drains unable to cope with volume of water that came down.

G'day,
The rain passed about two hours ago, having been steady since about 0400.
The second band seems to be breaking up and might be a non-event here.

Easter is Big here, probably more so than Christmas and they have processions tonight, tomorrow, and on Sunday.
They make a massive effort so it is such a shame when it rains.

One is pleased that yon *Ex As* have had an uneventful journey and the hunt for a suitable replacement chair can begin.

Took Dexter Dog to the Vet this morn - his very smelly ear infection has reappeared. Steroid tablets plus cleaner and ear drops prescribed and we left £40 lighter.

A warm day for us at 15C and on the way home I realised the aircon on my A6 was not coping. Aircon service booked for Wednesday at the Audi robbers but I suspect it might be a bit more than just a service required. This is my third A6 and it's the first time I've needed an aircon service before the car was 3 years old but at least it's still under warranty should there be a fault in the condenser or compressor.

Day one into a ninety day car hire and one has lost the key.
Just at the raki pub pre-dinner. Trouble is none in the freezer. It will be tomorrow. The owner moved from our usual table so that we could sit there.

As you may imagine from my location, the aircon in my Mazda has been 'On' all of its life.

It has been to an aircon specialist for 5 visits in the last month, the latest of which cost me a new compressor.

The car is now in its 12 year, and this is the first fault its had. I class tyres, batteries and brake pads as consumables.

Hopefully now good for another 11-12 years, dunno if I am.

Mrs Ex-Ascot has just knocked over a glass of raki. It has stripped the paint off the table. It has dripped onto the cement path which is now smoking and will need replacing. If it runs down the path through the village we are going to have to evacuate the whole population.

I can hear her trying to explain to the owner what a thatched roof is and failing completely. All flat concrete roofs here.

Bloody hot in Hampton. Saw four properties for sale, three ghastly, one freshly and beautifully renovated to the highest standard (architecture and build quality) and not expensive, but all too far from the shops and train station for us pedestrians. Another Viewing of the Islington flat on Saturday. Same bloke been twice before.

He's not the first to confuse Brits with English.

In Scotland we've been at war with the ffrench rather few times. Mostly, they're our allies.

Scotland and ffrance have something in common with eachother (and with the Canadians): **** awful neighbours!

Actually UDP I may have done him an unjustice it was some years ago he may have said 'English'.

Mrs Ex-Ascot knocked over another glass of raki. Whole island has been evacuated. To be honest we are not pissed just jolly tired. Chef is giving us lamb chops for dinner and making mint sauce especially for us despite the resturant being full.

Hotel owner found our car key in the car park.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed when we recover from the transit. Early to bed.

"You were saying you wanted to buy me an introductory raki TS."
"I was?"
"Yep. Didn't she say that a few moments ago sah?" [wink]
"Yes I believe so Rod."
"Well...[hic] explain to me the two empty raki glasses in front of you then!"
"They're yours TS."
"[hic] They are?"
"Yes. You just finished that one when I arrived."
"I did?"
"Yep. You were saying how nice the raki is here and that I must have one."
"Goodness me! Well it would be most ungracious indeed as an Englishwoman of high standing if I didn't offer you a nice cup of tea now wouldn't it."
"Raki."
"Yes [hic]...raki."
"Ok TS thanks! I'll try one!" :)
"Er...Rod is it? Yeh...Rod [hic]. My face is up here dear."
"Sorry. I'm Australian."
"That's ok. We are quite familiar with your quaint nuances. Now I'm just going to have a little nap here before I serve you your tea." i-)

Carry an empty fuel can and fill that, then it is easy to transfer into the bike.
Do that of course, but have to be crafty, the discount is often for one fill only at that visit ( you score more points for multiple small purchases ) and no cans. Don't know why, does it matter how you carry the product away, but I didn't make the rules.

The whole discount thing is a real PITA. one has to spend a minimum of $40. at each fill, with fuel between $2.00 and $2.30 mark at the moment, and to a maximum of 50 litres at any one go, and apply for the card, and my wife and I have to carry independent cards 'cos occasionally we independently get an e-mail offering a specific card number an extra 4 cents/litre off TODAY ONLY ! but not for both cards, and points earned today can be used instantaneously or accumulated, but if so are lost at the end of the month following the month of purchase, so points gained on the first of the month can be used up to the end of the following month, but if awarded on the 31st of the month are only valid for four weeks. It's a mindless, exhausting effort keeping tabs on it all to maximise the minute advantage - why do we need all these Loyalty Cards, why not just knock 10c off everything and save all the advertising, printing, mind-blowing crap ? ( Yes, I do know why they do it ! )

Another bright sunny morning in London. No house-hunting today. Tomorrow chap who has been to see our current place twice is making a third visit so up early to scrub and dust, put out fresh flowers etc, all so he can piss us off by making a too-low offer. I'd like to charge admission...
