One tip, photograph everything on your phone.

Carry the scanned docs on a encoded USB.

Got everything on phone, laptop and portable hard drive. Orange were great this morning. Accepted a copy of Mrs Ex-Ascot's passport. New mobile and old phone number loaded. CCTV system ordered. The guy (Rhodesian) says he has a camera on his garden to see if his gardener is working.

Put large hole in barn roof yesterday to raise the framing for the new, higher roof. Went to bed with forecast of low probability of showers. Awoke to find steady rain. Forecast sneakily changed during the night to high probability of showers.
I guess the weather forecasters had their bit of string blown away by Dorian. Still, at least they appear to be looking out of the window occasionally.

You can buy electronic dog barkers, sound very authentic. I have one triggered by a PIR by my front door. Suspecting house is under surveillance by thieves and rapscallions, one must shout "down, Killer, down" when opening the door.

Thank you OFSO, Just looked at it. Good idea but it is a small community and folk know we do not have dogs. However they are scared stiff of them and the sound may make them think twice. Do they do roaring lion ones? We do have that here but usually a few kms away which is no help.

RAIN! WE HAVE RAIN!

OK, excitement over, now I just have to deal with all those who forget that it gets really slippery driving today after the long dry spell.

In other news, good dog show weekend, Tesla is now a certified therapy dog and Kepler got Select on Saturday and BOS on Sunday, so another five points in the bag towards her grand champion title. She's also ticked off the "beat a champion of record on three separate occasions" too.

Tesla will jump up at the door when someone knocks. It tends to put the cold callers off their stride when there's a barking dog looking out at them at eye level. If you're quiet and don't disturb her, you still can't get in the door because she sleeps against it.

Our last watch dog was useless unless the burglar brought his own dog. Present one is even worse for people and dogs. If they were a CAT burglar it might be different😀

I have heard of people keeping snakes as a deterrent against burglars. Silent but deadly.

This is precisely what happens in the Johannesburg area, about now!
I haven't been keeping check, but there they normally have a drought of 3 to 4 months, ending in voilent thunderstorms, about now.

And yes, the roads have a nice coating of rubber, with a tinge of oil that becomes a skid-pan!

I managed one wheelspin pulling away from a light, presumably because right by the stop line is where there's most rubber deposited.

Been to see nursey for me flu-jab. Before I got the needle in me arm, nursey said they have been directed by high-ups to ask people of a certain age if they have memory issues.
NHS Orkney have only just asked our island's surgery how many doses of 'flu jab are required! The medical staff of NHS Orkney are brilliant but alas the management is truly awful

If it’s the same strain of flu that wrecked Australia this winter then beware. It literally is a killer with a huge increase in deaths. Took me a good 4 to 6 weeks to fully get over it.

Morning folks. Yes the first rains of the winter on Amorgos make the roads treacherous. With a hairpin bend every 100 m it makes lots of car spare parts. Have to see the police again today. Haven't cancelled passports yet hoping that they will show up. If not, cancel today and start the painful process of renewing. Also need a letter from them as we are currently illegal here. No passports or residency permits. Hopefully they have found the keys to the police station by now.

Back in London. Inner front door swollen and hard to shut, so heating on and dehumidifiers in place. Sunny warm weather expected so house airing scheduled later. With security grills locked !

We seem well up this year. Brexit? Boots is offered jabs now, our surgery on the 28th. I wonder how long the jab is really effective for.

Morning
Have managed two hours around the house before having to lie down. (See suck parade)
Plumber due in 15 mins to rectify problem with waste pipes from kitchen sink and dishwasher.

A mix of cloud and sun outside.

Pain has subsided so shall get up again to greet the ploer.
