Another normal blue Costa morning. 19c heading for mid to high 20s today.

Seems we have Barak Obama amongst us. He gave a speech at a private event in Marbella last night.

Oh dear, it is the Village Fete today, proceeds to the Church, and heavy rain is forecast, it will be muddy.

I am re-waxing my Belstaf motorbike jacket this morning, it might be rather messy so will do it in the shed, no doubt Misty will help and then leave waxy paw marks over all the furniture.

Morning folks. A cool 25° bit of cloud over the mountains from orographic lifting. Nothing planned.

Just off to the deep cellars under Spanish house to excavate for water pipe ducting, work to be completed after our return in six weeks. Doing the prelim work now so I don't fret while in London.

Annual Carnival in this town today. Completely forgot about it until we went to do the weekly shop. Traffic at a standstill, so no change there from normal days.

Off to deepest, darkest Cambridgeshire today for family party. Wonder if we'll see any speeding former MPs.

Good afternoon from a sort of sunny Northamptonshire. Managed to avoid any Download traffic but not the torrential rain on the drive down to cousins’ place yesterday. We are about to leave for another cousin's gaff in Essex. Tomorrow his grandson is being Christened at a family service. 'No need to dress up as the Rev will probably be in jeans' or so I'm told. :D

May see you on the A14/M11 4ma! :-h

Currently being serenaded by the sound of four Merlins in close formation.

Unfortunately Mme TB, our route is A1/A47. :(

Whilst preparing for the Big Water Pipe renewal in August, spotted another damp patch. Nothing for it but to renew NOW 25 meters of pipe down the mountainside from the road above into the cellar. Five hours in blazing sun, not nice. Plus up mountain path into front door, down three flights of stairs, disconnect house, up again to road, water off, down mountain to run hose, up again etc etc. Maybe 20 times off on, check new joints, off on etc. Even if I don't pass away now, pounding heart, I will never do this job again !

( Should have done it yesterday with Ops Normal guests visiting house !!!)

OFSO can't you just get a little chap in?

Just watched the Red Bull air race stage in Russia. Frog won it but he did seem to be a decent chap when interviewed. Someone took a cone out and will not be able to race tomorrow due to wing damage.

Have to see the doctor when she comes here on Wednesday. Nursie says I have an inner ear problem. Every time I stand up the room spins. She says stand up slowly. How can you do that. You are either sitting or standing there is nothing in between.

Raki time. If I can get the room to spin in the opposite direction problem solved.

Breezed into town, Morrison's car park pretty full but parked. Thence to ASDA to steal some Diesel, Moy Park for the cheap chicken and home 😀

Bad weather forced a shed clear out, found an old air rifle from a couple of decades ago, cleaned and oiled it, fired off a couple of pellets and it worked, when I bought the wax for my Belstaff yesterday in the fishing tackle shop I noticed that he sold air rifles, took it down, he had an inspection and offered me sixty quid for it. Not often I go to bed richer than I started the day.

Home made curry tonight, permitted one Cobra beer with it, followed by a recorded episode of "Summer of Rockets".

Bit dryer tomorrow, plan a bike excursion into Somerset, then The Royal Oak for refreshment.

Today's passing event passes my front door (on a steep uphill section).
Ten minute ago it started to rain heavily - drowned rats!

Summer of Rockets is set in the 50s, there were real overtones from the Wilson era in the 60s/70s.

At last a rain free day. Did you know that if you use a sit-upon to mow a very bumpy 3.5 acre field and have your iPhone in your pocket then when finished the Health App says you have taken 8214 steps and walked 3.7 miles? #:-S

Not a lot of people know that! Useful to show the Doc when he says take more exercise...... :))

Mr A, look up Epley Manoeuvre. If you try it and your head spins, it's tiny crystals in the semi-circular canals. Do procedure several times, unpleasant but it fixes it. If the Epley Manoeuvre doesn't make your head spin it's something else.

Getting a little man in.....if only. Would have to be English builders as don't have weeks to sit and listen to Spanish excuses why job can't be done this year. And English builders all busy. Plus it's Saturday and we are off to London on Tuesday. Plus 25m of 25mm 10bar pipe only cost me €27 including couplers. Eight hours work including digging up old pipe to see if it was damp (it was). All done. The Spanish pipe has a life of about 10 years until pinhole leaks start. I do not fancy tackling this job again at the age of 85.

OFOS many thanks have looked at that will.give it a bash. Never heard of it before but nursie says that many astronauts use this technique.

Copied on the Spanish work efficiency. Same here.

Shortly after the late Mrs R (former Army PTI) bought me a FitBit (she was very optimistic was she not!) I discovered that I could easily register over 12,000 steps in under 3 hours by leaving the Fitbit in my trouser pocket when the trousers went through the washer & the tumble dryer!

Have just heard that Stronsay triumphed yet again in the tug-of-war which is the traditional finale of the annual North Isle Sports Day. This year participants from Stronsay, Sanday, Papa Westray, Eday & North Ronaldsay travelled via Orkney Ferries (with an amended timetable) to & from Westray. I think that it's Stronsay's turn to host the event in a couple of years time.
