In the early 2000s, the wreck was found by a local diver, and a 'service' was held on the nearby headland.
Our vicar was the CofE clergyman, together with his mother and siblings.
The master of the SS Sauternes was the vicar's grandfather . . .
Though the master had been long retired (age 69), he had volunteered to return to service.

Maybe had a bash with the debit card in the ATM, they had the PIN number in a note book but we cancelled that PDQ.
A very simple 'encryption' technique that can be used for writing down pins, is to add or subtract a small number to your pin.
Such as a Squadron number!

Ian, given your connection with H2S, for bomb scores the V-Force used a system called a non-carrying daily additive. A bomb score contained 5 numbers, xxx yards and dd tens of degrees. The ground spotters would take a score, say 990 yards at 250 degrees and add a random number to 099/25. We would then subtract the additive from the result to get the score.

Just watched the last of the three part ITV documentary about the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. An officer in flying clothing was explaining how they were about to do the first F35 rolling landings onboard.
He described the procedure and to my horror I heard him refer to “landing on the BOAT”!! A boat is a submarine. Then I noticed his epaulettes - he was an RAF officer so I forgave him......

Best wishes for that, Magnus.
Everybody stop tumbling down and hurting selves!

Morning folks. Ibbie your weather seems to always be the same as ours only 30 degs cooler. Actually it is not too hot today. Genny running again to mammoth water. Solar chap phoned to say he was coming here today to look at our duff battery. Phoned again to say that he had just reversed into a NR's car at the petrol station. He will be in the cop shop for hours.
A very happy gardener. 21 today. Mrs Ex-Ascot made him a huge chocolate cake and I ripped up an agreement for him to have a company tablet on loan for his studies. Now his.
They promise rain tomorrow. It is looking good. Hot and humid. In fact, it has just started thundering.

Morning all,
Same high cloud (>10,000') seems to be slowly dissipating.
Approaching 14 from a low of 11, target 20c.
Apart from a four stop shop imminently dunno what else the day will bring, probably more garden removal.
Think you must be sheltered from the stiff NNW wind *Ibbie*

Ping! Text in from M&S Bank with a one time code valid for 10 minutes to authorise a credit card payment of £105.84. Trouble is I haven't made that transaction. Ignored the request. Immediately phoned M&S Fraud Dept. That was the third payment in an hour they have declined today on my card and they were impressed I'd rung them before they could phone me. Card terminated - new one to arrive in 5 days.
As long as you don't lose your mobile phone to the fraudster at the same time, the one time code looks like good security - but only when it becomes compulsory for all online and card transactions.

Doesn't work for overseas payments! (unless you pay through-the-nose roaming charges, and even then it's doubtful you'd get the code in time)

Even that there are usually two "locks" in place for a mobile to be accessible. A finger print and a PIN if the former fails. However now you mentioned it, I don't know if the single use code is visible on a locked screen.
C16, I am not sure I understand the issue here. Let's suppose someone finds your cc details and make a purchase. At the last part before he concludes the transaction he needs to insert the PIN sent to your mobile which they can't access even if they steal it from you. What's the point then?
Fox3 there are no charges (in Europe at least) to receive a SMS.
I accompanied a neighbour to visit her husband to the hospital to help her with some errands. While she was talking with a nurse, I realized the nurse is the wife of a friend I have not seen him some time (and her much more). A convenient way to get an update and arrange a meeting with her father in law - a former Army Aviation technician.
