Went out for a walk today near the lakes and the River Nene. Despite it being a beautiful day, there were very few peeps about, which added to the peace and quiet. A solitary swan came up to the lake edge looking for food, but had to content itself with the moss.

Spent the afternoon pricking out dahlia seeds. Normally I keep tubers from last year but tragedy this time. Unbeknown to me a pane at the back of the greenhouse broke and let lots of cold air in. Max-min thermometer showed a min of -6 in a house which usually doesn't freeze at all. Potted the tubers up more in hope than expectation.
Hoowever, haven't got room in my pocket-handkerchief garden for 60 plants if all the seedlings survive, so expect to give half of 'em away.
OTOH, knowing my luck, most of 'em will die of dahlia virus or summat.

Oh yes, and I cut my hand repairing the greenhouse...

Otherwise, healthy, although bored already. (and yes, I got The Letter this morning.)

I'm still waiting for The Letter to be delivered.

Braved the outside world today with a walk to the pharmacy to pick up my meds.
On the way back looked in at the Coop as it was pretty quiet. Everything available again apart
from flour and eggs. A bit low on gin supplies but a bottle was enough to make me happy.
Fortunately plenty of lemons available as well but limited to two bottles of tonic.
It's been another sunny day but cooler than of late.

Sunny here all day so I washed the muck off the glass panels in the greenhouse. Tomato seeds planted.

OXFAM bag of bits n pieces delivered by #1 son tonight.. Mrs 4ma can now bake some scones.

Cold day here and overcast. I will have to turn on the electric water heater instead of rely to the solar.
There was a call from a Turkish lady looking for a dealer across the sea for her company. I had to take a call because much to my surprise the young and attractive colleague in her mid-twenty's speaks no English and is currently studying the language we use here.

I've been doing outdoor stuff to alleviate the boredom, but it has been a damp, misty, dreich day today, so a paperwork catchup has been taking place. Alas, there is no whisky in the house.

London deathly quiet tonight on my walk, except six ! double deckers went past on Southgate Road. A few passengers on board, but very surreal. Tesco Metro open at nine p.m., shelves appeared stocked.

Morning, all out there. Another cold but sunny start. Waiting for the Van to come and take unneeded goods from the flat into storage. The mem' and I have different ideas of what is 'unneeded'. She thinks 90% is, whereas I think more like 5%. But it was ever thus.

OFSO, I see an underlying plan. Clearly all your clothes less about 5% will be essential. OTOH 5% of a much larger quantity will be significantly more. Nevertheless she will discover that some essential item was put away and needs to be replaced down that river.

Local park has lots of swans and assorted other birdlife. There are even otters in the pond now. In the summer. there's a lovely walk through the park which ends about a 5 minute stroll from the Sheep Heid, the site of which has had an inn since 1360.

Long before Corvid19, I knew of a family en-route to new dwelling with all furniture 'in the van' (having handed over their previous dwelling to new owners), arriving at new dwelling to be told "Sorry, it's off!".

Mrs S and I went out for our constitutional this morning as it is still beautifully sunny, if a trifle chilly. Saw the sum of two people and one dog in about an hour and a half. Not really surprising as only the first 400m or so were actually on a metalled road, bridle paths and tracks after that. The flat agricultural land to the north of the river Bure west of Gt Yarmouth is very sparsely populated at the best of times.
