Morning all, a brief rain shower earlier before it dried up. I suspect we may get a bit more later though.

Had to go get some dog food, so we took the little dog along for a change of scenery and to weigh her. She's up to 117lb now, so I guess she's moving from her skinny puppy frame to an adult dog. she looks more substantial, which is partly why we wanted to weigh her.

Just been for a walk in the garden, moon risen, couple of planets, bats flitting around and last of the day's bird song.

You wonder if all those aircraft that used to drop noise all the time were ever really necessary.

[quote+PN]bats flitting around[/quote] !!!!! Just be VERY careful you don't get peckish. =))

I am annoyed at the way the meeja are referring to BoJo's lady as his 'girlfriend' and him as her 'boyfriend'. Do they not understand an 'engagement'?

Parking in our village is highly sought after - most will tell you that in the centre it is impossible. yet when the Gas Board (sic) installed a new gas main right through the Marketplace and along one main street, all parking spaces were suspended or occupied with equipment yet life went on so those vehicles obviously found somewhere else to park - which begs the question whether the spaces are required.

This was before the current 'lockdown' - all centre shops are closed - so no staff or customers.

Good morning from a very sunny East Midlands of the UK.
Forecast to get to 20C today. That should get the blossom on the fruit trees excited.

DHL has just launched it's Leipzig flight and that looks about it for this today.
Everything else appears to be cancelled.

I'm taking full advantage of the weather and have all the windows and doors open
downstairs (while Mrs HF sleeps on upstairs) to let in the Spring air and banish the
Winter miasma to the realms of the seven Princes of Hell.

Begone Covid19 !!

Have an nice Palm Sunday wherever you are under house arrest.

Sun also burning through the windows in Islington. Morning, all. Use your permitted hour's walk, jog, or bike ride wisely as its vital to stay healthy.

Morning folks, blazing sunshine. Breaking house arrest and defying prohibition to go up to the safari camp for a few beers later. Driving through the bush this time not walking. Just put the solar oven out for a veggy curry to go in whilst we are out.

How about this for ingenuity. Manager up river is a dab hand with the welding kit. A traveling BBQ. Chop the ends of a gas bottle cut them in half, weld it all together put on four legs which can be unscrewed for travelling and Bob's your BBQ. A few mods to be made. A chain to hold the lid open and a shelf in the lid to chuck things on when they are ready.

Thank you for asking Boac we are fine. Only pain is my cracked ribs but improved vastly. We feel more secure with our night guard by the door and patrolling every hour. It is all quite ridiculous given where we live in the middle of the bush. It is like have a guard on your door in Stronsay.

Morning all,
bright, high cloud, nearly 16 Paco guesses 19c no rain.

Dogs out at 07.50 about to go looking, I know where they go now.

I am thinking of using the BBQ for the ritual today, less mess.

Rainy day again here not that I mind. I checked the actual weather - there was a drizzle so the duvet cover is removed to a dryer place.

Missus om and I are just about to take our one hour exercise and stroll up to the allotment, have a few borage plants to plant, lovely morning, intend to then sit outside my shed with my book and some Sunday bottles of Spitfire.

I wonder if this enforced calm down will change attitudes and behaviour once this is over, possibly people might dwell on the wisdom of retaining six months living costs in the bank for a rainy day, also just because we have satellite navigation systems in our cars, colour televisions and smart phones it doesn't make us less vulnerable than cave men when up against nature.
When I retired I found an immeasurable improvement in quality of life in not having to drive anywhere or fly anywhere in aeroplanes, I can warmly recommend it, incidentally I do not have a sat nav or a smart phone and don't seem to get lost or require distance conversations.

This isn't going to be over quickly, maybe another 3 months of tranquility or so, enjoy it while you can.

Wouldn't a pair of Ridgebacks be cheaper?

Probably more reliable than a jigaboo too.

Added benefit: you could cuddle them and they'd listen patiently to your war stories too.

Quite so! It is now 16 years since we arrived here and the doors & garage have been locked just once, on the very first night we arrived and were still thinking in non-Stronsay terms. I confess that I have no idea where the keys are right now, probably in a long-forgotten safe place. We do live next to the Old Police House which is being renovated and still has the old cells from the days when Stronsay's population grew to 5,000 or so when the herring were running.

Next door have 3 Ridgebacks who would lick you to death if you got over the fence. They dig up the garden, that was, and ***** all over the place. At least our guards are house trained. Food, vets fees and compensation if they get out and chase a pregnant cow and it aborts. I think 10 euros a night is cheaper. Also dogs will bark at anything. Not getting up every time a dog barks. Our chaps only bark if it is an identified genuine threat. The dogs next door disappear inside if there is a big cat around. That may be a solution but how many tins of kitty cat does a leopard need a day.

From Webster's dictionary: "Definition of jigaboo - slang, disparaging + OFFENSIVE".

Just checked the Hastings webcam. Lots of folk on the prom. Far too near each other. Idiots.
