Something for you heliochopter fans.
The power to weight ratio in those models is extraordinary. I take my hat off to the folks who fly them so well, it is very hard (for me anyway) to get used to the lateral inversion and the mental conversion you have to make when flying models and having to do that at such a high relative rate of speed is really impressive.

My AME sells flying helicopter models in his surgery and I have ended up sitting flying one (in a mediocre manner) with his blood pressure cuff on my arm. Nothing like the model in the video of course...

Thoroughly enjoyed that video. Thanks for posting.

Thank you RIS!, I'm actually Fliegenmong, but could not figure out how to log back in as that, and the 'contact administrator' page was not activated....I hope I am welcome back! :)
Just looked at the User Error log, and I suspect you had a problem with your keyboard.
You seem to have been trying to log on as "Flie genmong" with the embedded space.

Wow! very impressive indeed!....I taught a young kid to fly model gliders once, back in the 1980's, a cox 0.49 engine mounted to a pod on top from maybe 5/7 mins run time to altitude and then after the fuel was out, it's a (dirty) sailplane, heaps of fun though.

That young kid went on to fly model helicopters in a similar fashion to the video. I occasionally muck about with a small drone sometimes, it was a gift.

I must dust off the big trainer in the shed and go fly in the polo fields Friday...

No, much looking at flats but nothing suitable. Too small or too many stairs or too much work needed. Stashed some of the cash from sale in P. Bonds as no interest elsewhere. One in a zillion chances we might win enough to buy a decent place. Now back to Euroland for five months and 29 days.

OFSO, man after my own . . . Started to invest in some trusts still offering a good dividend, a small cash float and the rest in PBs. The savings account is giving £1.50/£1,000 compounded. With this bank we used to get that monthly on the current account.

I bet most of the people working there do not know the current account used to give interest!

How limited are you in location?

Following on from 4mastacker's video of the Heli....from way back when Jnr Fliegs and I used to fly models together...here is 'belly cam' footage from a twin ducted fan 'Airbus'...

That used to be an actual airfield where the lakes are and the 'Runway' was part of or near to the Surfers Paradise International raceway...f^%king council ripped it up and put grass there....it must have been the most magnificent model airplane 'runway' in the country!

Morning all,
same as over the lake but 25 with a guess of 32.
At close yesterday it was 33.

The A/C man cometh to service and see if that clears the faults, both units do the same faults heating or cooling.

The robbers have had a field day with the Bank Account.
Car Tax, one third Credit Card, Alarm rent, House insurance but in compensation SM's tax rebate went in, 1.35€

Pittance the lowest it has been all year with the rate yesterday.

Location: mentioning the obvious fact that as Mrs OFSO has the sponduliks and not me, she therefore has the casting vote..... Anywhere on the Upper Thames within or just outside Zone 6. So Sunbury, Walton, Shepperton, near three branches of her family. If it were up to me it would be the other end, Wapping or Rotherhide, from where my forebears took to the water.

I read that more townies have discovered the delights of the shires and working from home. Maybe something that doesn't count as the sticks might come up.

I deleted the OFSO quote and it worked.

What is in the meaning of a word?
As a young child, the word Woodbine Terrace was the name of a street close to where I lived.
As I got older I became aware of a brand of cheap cigarettes with that name.
Today I passed a house called Woodbine Cottage - obviously not named after the cigarettes - it transpires that it is an alternative name for honeysuckle.

What words have had diverse meaning for you as you grew older?

An idle thought, football thread, covid bollox or what?

What is the point of sport without spectators (or with come to that) and where does the money come from to pay the ones with golden bollocks and Lamborginies?

No gate receipts, no point in advertising as no one to see them. Only so many games on TV.

Same with F1.

My favourite non - spectator sport was test cricket, listening to Brian Johnson on Radio 4 longwave as we motored up from the South of France.

Took a week off work once to paint my house, had a transistor radio hung on the ladder and listened to John Arlott commenting on England versus Australia whilst i did it. Bliss..

One of Mrs 1DC's mates came around for a cup of tea this afternoon, she is as deaf as a post and Mrs 1DC is on the way.Even with me battened down in my study i could still hear everything said. I wasn't mentioned though.
Got an i phone 8 it suddenly refused to connect to wifi, eventually sorted it my removing the vpn and then reconnecting it.
