My Davis met station recorded a max temp in its Stevenson screen of 29.6°C at 16:30 this afternoon.

Yesterday's max was 29.4° and I was astonished at that.

We've been making icebergs for the Orfes and the Carp by freezing dozens of those square ice-cream tubs full of water in the chest freezers and tossing the 'bergs into the pond. The biggest of the fish fight over who is going to hunker under the newest berg and get a refreshing shower of deliciously cold water dribbling onto its back. The Murricane style fridge-freezer in the main kitchen has a prolific ice-maker and we have been tossing those smaller ice-lumps into the pond too for the smaller Orfes to enjoy.

guessing a high of 15c, Europe can take their weather back any time they like.

I would keep the heat the for a few months more, but then I am looking forward to the cold.

Home office today and then a slot to use the pool has been booked.

Sounds like cultural misappropriation.

I used to love watching Cleopatra being made, the ball of dough blowing tossed hand to hand, patted larger and larger until the chap had a large, round flat chapatti. The tin, if such, was a flat plate.

Here, 15 going on 27. Day 4 for a terrace and patios being laid. They start at 7 and stacking 12. They started at 8 on day 1 when the material arrived and through till 4 using the digger to get the ground done on one days hire. Digger being collected on Day 2 so another 'free' half day use.

We now have a heap of beautiful to soil creating a new flower bed and original slabs ready for a garden utility area or broken and put in the terrace.

Morning all.

Clear blue sky and 22c going up to 32c this afternoon.

Madam has gone to the rehab specialist to be signed off. Seems a bit pointless after the surgeon who did her arm repair signed her off on Monday and covered the matter of her mobility and ongoing exercise, in that review.

Why is it that when you open the door of the conservatory, a bloody great big bumble bee is always the first flying insect through the opening?

Second day with 8/8 overcast. Slight drizzle and vis about 400 metres. 17C, forecast to be 24C later - can't see that happening. Electricity Board tree surveyor was here again earlier - 12 mature trees, mainly Sycamore weeds, marked with spray paint and to be cut down to provide the necessary clearance from the 11kv spur to the house. Expected to be down within two weeks. All will be chipped and chippings left so we can redistribute as weed suppressant on the flower and shrub beds. Pellets will be inserted into the stumps to prevent regrowth. No charge - dread to think what a tree surgeon would have charged.

Bumble bees are clever, they'll make their way back out again after a tour around :)

Afternoon folks a perishing wind from down south. Supposed to be 22°C but just had a shower and nearly froze to death. The internet is so slow it is unworkable most of the time. Can't seem to get through to the supplier. Think that they are still working from home so can't even call in at their office when in town.

Never even thought of bumble bees here. Looked them up, they are a northern hemisphere bee apart from South America where they have probably been introduced to pollinate the poppy fields. B-)

Big problems with the birds damaging our fences for insects. Never had this before.

Played 18 holes of golf this morning on the most easterly golf course in England (and I think the UK) weather was perfect, low 20s C with a gentle southerly breeze. just perfect.

Shame about the golf!
