The prospective mayor has now been talking for an hour. Don't understand much. About time he offered folk to give input. Then it will be fun. This could last for hours. Now he is talking about lightening conductors. Why? Most folk around us seem to be falling asleep. Think we will go for din dins at our table down the village. This is live reporting. Everyone around us is getting pissed off with this speech.

Bit of a first for me today.

Switched my phone on just after landing at BFS, and got amongst other stuff, a FlightRadar24 7700 alert. Looked at it and thought the flight number looked familiar, and sure enough it was the flight we were on. They had asked if there was a doctor or paramedic on board. All very calm and professional.

Once again, well done easyJet.

First time I've been on a flight, as far as I know, that's squawked 7700.

Edit, leader of the opposition has just discretely paid for our bucket of raki. Still not voting for him. Great guy but weak team. He has however got some nice looking girls on his side..
Maybe a picture of those girls is required, I am sure island girls do have interest how to say frontal aspects.
Rather tired and I am not sure when I am going to have a decent sleep.

This morning I was thinking for the member's daughter who had the horrible injuries while handling some big animals. I hope she is doing better.

Just watched the International Space Station fly by.

Incredibly bright. With 12 x 80 binos the shape of the panels was very clearly visible.

Morning folks. Breakfast beer at the hotel then down to the port for the ATM. Another election meeting this evening, this time with our chap. He does one in English for the handful of expats. Having served with the RN his English is perfect.

Cape sorry but it had better have been both pilots sick to squawk 7700 otherwise it wasn't well done squeezy jet. If this was the case they would have been asking for any pilots on board. Total over reaction and unprofessional.

Sorry RiS didn't get any photos for you but don't remember anything large.

Picture this:

Wife left strawberries on table near fridge. Will put strawberries in fridge. First empty dregs of tea down sink. Open fridge, put cup in fridge.

Confess.

Mrs PN says she picked up glass to get water from fridge pressed glass on light switch.

Nothing new really. About 20 years ago we had installed an automatic, foot-operated, integrated rubbish bin. The number of times we both tried to open the dishwasher with our feet. At least the new opens with a knee.

Morning all.

Usual weather here. 17c at present heading into mid 20s later.

Mrs IB still claims to be suffering from woman flu which excuses her for doing anything. However when I suggested that she would have to miss art tomorrow if she is so ill, I received a swift rebuke.

Ex-A, to bring the discussions of Life of Brian and mayors together, did you know that Brian's (naked) girlfriend in LoB went on to become Mayor of Aberystwyth?

I believe that qualifies as an appropriately boring and pointless snippet.

One is car-less today. Mrs 4ma has produced a list of victuals that I have to procure in town today and said I will have to share the omnibus with the hoi polloi for the journey.

Strawberries in Chez 4ma don't survive long enough to go anywhere near the fridge.

Morning all,
As the other side, 19 for 25. Viz not great though *Ibbieville* has sunk into the murk.

Physio this afternoon for the knee which is ever more painful.

Yesterday eye infection diagnosed, drops and cream to fix. A snag of private is the drugs are expensive, 22€ for the drops.
They still believe that her sight will "Settle down"

Ex-A it appears to have been a sick SLF and as we went into BFS as scheduled I did wonder why the 7700. Ambulance crew boarded through the rear door when we parked. That said, I don't know the protocol for declaring 7700 but I thought it was only if the aircraft was endangered which does not appear to have been the case.

No didn't know, but Brian was 'a very naughty boy' being with her. Could have ruined her chances of election.

Cape you are absolutely correct. It is just a case of request for priority landing. Same with running a bit short of gas. If you are totally out of gas now that is a Mayday and the end of your career.

Capetonian, safety of life, really the aircraft is only one possible problem. By declaring a mayday he will have ensured priority landing, the undivided attention of the authorities leading to the appropriate ground response as you observed.

On many occasions a mayday has not been declared and often ATC will ask are you declaring a payday as this does give them the backing to clear the air space etc. otherwise you get someone bitching.

Oddly enough, just rummaging in the back of the brain box I came across PATHASNI and the small buff form with the message format that the nav would complete for the wireless op. When were the message pads last seen in flt planning?

You do not declare a Mayday for a sick passenger this is abuse of the protocol. Anyway I am now squawking 7700. We have sewage flowing down the street next to my chair. They are working on it but it is very smelly.

Don't know the latest Euro rules but in the US you could declare "Lifeguard". This meant you had a serious medical situation on-board and you received almost the same priority as a Mayday. You simply declared Lifeguard and then added this as a suffix to your call-sign in subsequent transmissions. Worked great.

A BRIT woman has died at Majorca’s Palma Airport inside a plane bound for Edinburgh in Scotland.
Do they offload her baggage?
