Negative - with the Sword of Damocles hanging above us, let's think positive (And it has the same ending, too!)

It would be very unlucky to have to declare "pan pan etc " and indeed I have only done "practice pan etc " . When based at RAF Northolt as an ATCO I managed a visit to the D and D cell at West Drayton which was very interesting indeed.

tat - what is laughingly called 'antiques' round here.
Once spent an entire night doing Pan Pan Relays when a Force 10 storm hit our yacht race in the North Sea. Being a Service yacht, it seemed we were about the only boat which knew where we were and had a radio working to max range. Several boats had lost much electrics, some hadn't been keeping a good enough manual plot, and a couple were breaking up. Everybody lived, and no boats sank, though a lot of that was due to oil rig support vessels which provided much help.

I rode the local Metro system yesterday afternoon/early evening. There was a very attractive girl (not for Slasher or me) but with a meticulous make up, a very nice long red dress... Nice image.

Verbatim - in exactly the same words as were used originally. Or alternatively, as cooked up in their notebooks by dishonest coppers to present "the facts" as they prefer to express them in court. Surprising how different the statements made by prosecution and defence sides can appear, as reported in the media during certain trials over the years ...

IMBECILE the Spanish word is apparently even ruder than the English, as I discovered when I called the management of a hotel in Castello d'Empuries when they tried to give us a second floor room with the fire escape locked.

Lean, mean machine. The onomatopoeic phrase that many gym members have secretly in mind as the goal of their exercise efforts.

Newel - the post at the top or bottom of a staircase that supports the handrail, from the Old French nouel (knob). Trust the French to introduce a slightly questionable term to a humble flight of stairs ... no wonder there's so many of them, zut alors, they're sex-mad!

Elephantine -
Actually an elephant next to that would look pretty.

NEVER in a million years would anyone fancy that.

Gorge - to eat a large amount greedily, ending up elephantine as seen above. Yuk!

Possible, but only if the blundering Herr Otto Flick of 'Allo 'Allo was involved! And I shall say this only once ...

Charisma - everyone would like to have it; JFK had it; Marilyn had it; Elvis had it; Bill Clinton had it (but it escaped); Boris is trying desperately for it (but fails dismally); and Trump will never have it in a month of Sundays ...

Mandarin - the official form of the Chinese language, and also a small sweet citrus fruit with a loose skin and easy to peel. I like them:

Maun International Airport, where it only takes five minutes max to get through security and immigration on the way out and for locals with hand baggage only two minutes max to get out.
From Wiki; https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maun_Airport
The original airstrip is now the main road through town and passes Rileys garage; there are photos of aircraft refuelling at the petrol pumps there. The garage, hotel and petrol pumps are still there. ......but a tad modernised though.
