A long-time Ozfriend of mine was a very likeable rascal back in the 1960s. His idea was to do a 'moonlight flit' back home before Inland Revenue caught up with his tax-dodging scam as a well-paid "agency" worker not on their PAYE register. His undoing was falling for a delightful English girl, getting hitched to her, then coming clean and paying lots of back tax owed, as a transformed respectable UK citizen. It paid him to be honest, they're still as happy as Larry together, and like Slasher and Apsara, she might well be smarter than him, too ... :D :)

alliterative - groups of similar sounding word beginnings devised by speech therapists to help treat chronic lispers or whistlers, like "Round the rugged rock the ragged rascal ran" or "Sister Susie served seven spicy sausages". What odd jobs some folk have, bless them! /:)

Stethoscope - a common medical device used to listen to a patient's heart or breathing; simple and reliable when used by an experienced practitioner. No batteries or electronics needed for the traditional type, hence little to go wrong ... ;)))

Vespa - one of those trendy Italian scooters that were a sine qua non back in the fifties for youngsters who wanted to "cut a dash". An art student friend of mine had one, and it made him a babe magnet. Or was it his long flapping college scarf and duffel coat outfit, or his cornucopia of easy chat-up lines? Whatever, they all fell for him like skittles when he was around, and he never lacked feminine company! I was just a little bit jealous ... :D

Umbilical - the bodily region once affected by Delhi belly, as a result of foolishly accepting ice in my G & T at the Janpath Hotel ... :-q (Never, ever again - they do say that you learn something new every day!)

Alimentary canals are very susceptible to dodgy water/ice in such places.

Managed to avoid both Delhi belly and Gippy tummy. Paranoia and eating lots of spicy food probably helped. :)

Still can't get over the Herbert who didn't understand why they had food poisoning when all they had eaten was salad and icecream. ..... 8-|

Yesteryear - OK, I understand that this means last year or the recent past, and yesterday means the day before today, but what happened to yesterweek and yestermonth? I seem to have the sort of mind that doesn't like inconsistencies, and wastes time ruminating about them ... 8-}
