Erotica - in the rather staid 1950s there wasn't much of this available in our school library, but a liberal-minded old boy had gifted "The Good Soldier Schweik", by the Czech author Jaroslav Hasek, to the shelves. Where word of mouth amongst our hordes of adolescent boys recommended it as being very spicy in parts - with page corners helpfully turned down at the "good" bits. Years passed before I discovered that it's a classic satirical black comedy, and the most translated Czech novel worldwide!

Campanile - a bell tower. This one collapsed in 1902 and was rebuilt. It's now beginning to lean and crack, and work is in progress to stop it falling down again. It's still open to climb and enjoy the view of Venice. Any volunteers?
