Vyvyan - the peacenik one in The Young Ones. Only viable “vy” I could think of. Vying would be no good and Vyingly would end up with a bloody “ly”.

Anecdotal - not backed up by facts, which covers most of the claims, promises and assertions made by the abysmal band of politicians in this run-up to a UK general election. The term "lying toads" springs to mind. :-q

Icicles - "When icicles hang by the wall, and Tom the shepherd blows his nail". A well known extract which refers to a cold snap that makes brass monkeys shiver in anticipation ... :-s

chunter - to grumble in a way too quiet to clearly understand (and therefore take issue with); a favourite of the cowardly pessimist.

Erode - what the seas around the UK are doing to the coastline, wearing it away to a variable degree. With a notable exception of the Kent region of Dungeness, where currents are actually building up a sizeable projection of the county towards France. Came in handy for constructing the nuclear power station a bit nearer the Ffrogs and further from us ... ;)))

Dehydration is a condition that can occur when the loss of body fluids, mostly water, exceeds the amount that is taken in. With dehydration, more water is moving out of individual cells and then out of the body than the amount of water that is taken in through drinking.

Escapism - the habit of doing enjoyable things to stop you thinking about unpleasant realities. I think we all indulge in a bit of this at times, and it's behind the character fault which encourages procrastination ... :ymdevil:

Smooth-talking bastard I can be at times. :D

My dear Miss Penelope Fotheringham-Jones,

I hope this letter finds you well. It would be my most cherished desire that we could perhaps meet at the Polo club for breakfast tomorrow at about 7.30am, and then move on to my luxurious hotel suite in town for a late morning tea?

Then by your graces I do wish to partake in physically demanding breast-heaving perspirational intercourse repeatedly until your good self overwhelmingly states at a high decibel level that you have had enough of this particular activity and desire cessation.

Awaiting your kindly response in due time.

Luv,

Rod

Thickset - in a physical sense, this means heavily built, but it's tempting to take it in a mental sense as well, as in "thick as two short planks", one of those typically odd English sayings that puzzle non-English linguists.

Etouffee a spicy cajun stew traditionally made with crawfish, veggies and a dark roux and served over rice. Never tried it but it sounds nice. :D
