Psephology - the 'science' of election analysis and predicting outcomes using various methods including opinion polls, past indicators and maybe seaweed. Swingometers anyone?
Earnest - a very serious adjective, which inspired Oscar Wilde to stress the importance of being it, and to create the haughty Lady Bracknell character with her horror of handbags! Thus enabling Dame Edith Evans to ham it up shamelessly at every performance ...
Armadillo - insect eating animal of Central and South America, with a body covered in bony plates, but with a tender heart beating with love, according to Flanders and Swann:
Languor - a pleasant feeling of being tired or without energy. At least, that's what the dictionary says, but I would take issue with the "pleasant", after too many hot and humid days without air conditioning. I do actually have a simple "desert cooler" device which cools the fanned air by the latent heat of evaporation as it passes through a slow-moving porous belt passing through a tray of water. It works, but frankly I can't be bothered to heave it downstairs from the guest bedroom, owing to my present languid state.
(Dunno what made it all come out bold, but only the "Languor" counts, next two letters being OR.)
Tenable - able to be held for a stated period. Like the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan, which I understand that Imran Khan is about to take on, as the 19th since partition in 1947. Looking back at their political and survival record, I wish him the very best of luck - he will need it.
