Yes. My phone did ring twenty minutes earlier,. I didn't get to it in time. Estate agent 'assumed' as I didn't reply it was ok to come up. Can't sack her, she's German, only one with any gumption. Pity I didn't still have my loathsome makeup on, but Chumly the Skeleton was sitting on the bench outside, looking weedy.

That sanctimonious prat Chris Packham has just used a young lad to make political points about the environment on BBC's Autumn Watch. Obviously promoting his own version of the sainted Greta.

13th century Europe saw popular outbursts of ecstatic piety in support of the crusades, such as that resulting in the Children's Crusade in 1212. Large groups of young adults and children spontaneously gathered, believing their innocence would enable success where their elders had failed.
It was a total failure, with not one child actually reaching the Holy Land. Many starved to death. The leader was hanged by angry, bereaved parents on his return.

This Children's Crusade will meet the same end for the same obvious reasons.

I see I am in good company with my opinion of Chris Packham. A most annoying, self-righteous prat of the first order who the BBC give far too much airtime to.

I know quite a few folks who are autistic and none of them have the smug, I-know-better-holier-than-thou attitude that he possesses. What I find disagreeable is the amount of air-time he is given to push his political views in what should be non-political programmes; last night was no exception and he used a young lad (who also may be autistic) to further his views.

Autumn Watch is a very informative and watchable programme about nature as it evolves through the season. However, it becomes unwatchable when it is used as a platform for one person to impose their political views. 'Countryfile' is another, previously very good, programme which has also gone down that path.

There is another one, can't remember the programme, they were on jaunt watching bears catch salmon when the pay scandal emerged. He was trousering £450k when his sidekick was revealed to get £150k. How she kept smiling I don't know

Cape, you are indeed a fortunate man.

Him, and another of his mates calling themselves 'Wild Justice', caused a kerfuffle earlier on this year when they objected to the wording of a General Licence which allowed farmers to shoot species that attack their lambs and crops, claiming the wording of the licences was illegal. The species suddenly protected by the revocation of the licences included pigeons, crows, Canada geese and magpies - hardly endangered species.

In a knee jerk reaction by Natural England, the General Licences were withdrawn overnight and without consultation, an action which meant the farmers could no longer protect their stock or crops, this happened at the start of the lambing season. The revocation of the General licences caused a lot of farmers to lose stock - our canal's local farmer lost eight lambs in one day due to Corvids attacking the new-born lambs and there was f***-all he could do. To say he was angry at Packham and his mate is a massive understatement.

Revised licences were issued after a few days which allowed the farmers to protect their stock and crops, albeit too late for some and Packham later claimed that his group had only wanted the Licences re-written when they became time expired later in the year.

Spingwatch and Autumnwatch were embarrassing to watch when Bill Oddie was on, his letching at Kate Humble was toe curling.

Perhaps I was jealous that he could get away with being a dirty old man and being paid for it...

Whereas I was doing it for free.

This evening was the magnificent bonfire and firework display held every year since 1956 on a natural arena in the nearby town.
Among the spectators were several families with very young children in pushchairs - some so young that they haven't learned to walk, and it was distressing to see the distress of these infants, clearly disturbed by the loud bangs of the aerial mortars with the parents oblivious of the suffering of the very young children.

Some parents need to be slapped with a procreation ban CPTN but you know that already. These are the same twisted weirdos who take their infants to violent demonstrations thinking the kids will be safe.

Physically? Maybe. But mentally? No way.

One of these border security doco's running on the box - Australian Border Control mob. Shown three separate women coming in one from Vietnam, China and Malaysia. All three are carrying masses of undeclared foodstuffs. One had 10kgs of dried fish that was infested with live bugs, another carrying lots of live plant life - roots and seeds, etc. And the third whole raw chicken carcasses, and they are fined just a few hundred dollars - less than a Sydney parking fine. Unbelievable. Ten thousand dollars would make them think again next time.

I gave up watching the Australian Border Control program as my blood pressure was over the top watching those ignorant Asians and what they think they can carry in their hand luggage. And as you say the low fines. Grrrr. The US Border Control TV program offers a quite different approach !

They do so because they want to use the children as a laissez-passer.
