I might be asking you to bring in a couple of spare belts next time you visit.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
There used to be an appliance spares and repair shop in CPT, corner of Bree and Shortmarket, but I suspect it's long gone.
Have you tried : https://www.tecsareco.co.za/branch-locator/

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I don't actually need anything yet.
We live in a multi floored house and want an extra vacuum cleaner to save carrying up and down stairs.
I thought of buying a cheap 2nd hand one and visited a shop that repairs appliances and also sells 2nd hand things.
They had an Elecrolux vacuum cleaner that they aren't willing to sell 'cos they cannot get parts!
We bought a new Electolux when we moved here 6 years or so ago. So far it hasn't gone wrong, watch this space.
I believe that as a result of 'Green' efforts, it is difficult to buy a vacuum cleaner with significant suck, these days.

Mrs OFSO likes her "Mr Henry" - we have two - but that been surpassed by the "G Tech" in London which she pronounces the best ever. Light, manoeuvres well, battery lasts ages and a better suck than Monica Lewinsky.

........with significant suck, these days.
I can recommend an ex girlfriend for that particular purpose. She was a nurse at Addington Hospital.

Cape, next time you are around make sure we cut loose SM and you give me a brief description of your ex girlfriends. I have the impression that you have the most interesting lot.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
You may be surprised SM, who is highly critical of machines that have poor suck, has an AEG which she is actually pleased with, astonishingly
It's predecessor was a VAX, also satisfactory, however spares had to be shipped from the UK and the cost of new motor + shipping = cost of AEG.

https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-sty ... -1.4171380Jamie Oliver to open ‘great Irish food’ restaurant in Dublin in April
Chequer Lane, 100-seat restaurant in city centre, to focus on ‘best of great Irish produce’
He's tried and failed at Italian, British, and fast food. Why doesn't he stick to what he knows? I suppose that's obvious really.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Took me turn as Duty Manager at church today, which means dashing about setting up then an hour or so of not very much then tidying up switching off, securing the building and going home in time for lunch. However.....
I also caught up on emails. Still 55 minutes left so,
thought I'd check internet connection speed. 76 Megathingies down, 20 up. Not bad. Then realised this was the 4G stuff. Still not bad.
What about the landline?
17 down 0.8 up. WHAT!!!?
We are paying for 100/20. Words will be exchanged tomorrow.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Could you kindly provide a copy of those letters please? I pay for up to 24 and just counted it at 8.3
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I'm afraid you are both (literally) getting what you pay for. That sort of advertising 'up to' is now banned for new contracts.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I now have a guaranteed minimum. On renewal they refused to give me the maximum and instead dropped me to a lower speed that they could guarantee. This lower speed is cheaper. It is also faster at the router than my previous high speed lin k.
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I pay for 20 and we get 5-6 which drops at peak times to 2. We've been promised fibre which apparently has been deployed but the commercial agreement hasn't been signed and they cant say when. I suppose somebody is waiting for a backhander, meanwhile the customer sits with the problem.
What I did find out is that on ADSL they 'throttle' everybody's speed to so that everyone gets the same. He who shouts loudest ..... which was me ... kicked up a fuss and they 'unthrottled' mine so it went from about 4 average to 5-6. Clearly that is to the detriment of others whose speed will drop to compensate for my faster speed. In other words I'm taking more out of the bucket than my share. Tough.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Our internet comes from the local mast. When everyone is here with their phones speed drops to unwatchable. TV was off last night, apology this morning as due to power failure in the UK.
