For as long as I can remember, I've watched Formula One qualifying and the race for free live on RTL TV. Went looking for program times yesterday and discovered RTL have not renewed their contract, reason being there's no longer much interest in Germany. It's become very much a minority 'sport' with only pay-to-view channels transmitting it.
I would question the fact that it has become a minority sport when 130,000+ turn up at Silverstone and some of the other venues. I'm sure there are a few countries where the spectator numbers are low, such as Sochi and Baku, though. Maybe the Germans have lost interest because Herr Vettel is doing so badly. If Schumacher Junior can make his mark, there may be renewed interest of course.

However, I have a wider theory about this, OFSO. I have noticed that the start times are becoming later and later. Bahrain was run at 1600 on Sunday. Now it's not that hot in Bahrain at this time of the year, so they weren't holding back for that reason, I'm sure. Several of the next races are at 1500, including Silverstone. I've worked at Silverstone for the past six years and I've never known it to start at 1500. I suspect what is at play here is the US influence, in every sense of the word. The TV rights are now owned by Liberty Media, and there have been numerous attempts to interest the cousins in F1, to little avail so far.
The only interest therefore, will be in the money, and if the cousins continue to show little interest in F1, no doubt it will be sold on again before too long.

.... So it's off to my trusted bodyshop repairer in his run down shed in the middle of nowhere. Until I see him I'm guessing he'll do the job for around £250.
So the Audi paint shop wanted £600 to sort the corrosion and respray the upper part of the tailgate, although they would do it free of charge as a goodwill gesture if I had a £425 service which I don't need. My guy says he will sort the corrosion and respray for £225. :-? Hmm, £600 versus £225......a difficult decision.....

My Volvo has blistering paint on the wheels which Volvo agreed they would refurbish under warranty for just £440!

Not only has Lidl dropped the "half price on the second bottle" offer but the same Rioja Crianza is 50c cheaper at Carrefour. As a report has just been published that pissheads, sorry, let me rephrase that, drinkers of red wine are 23% less likely to need cataract surgery, I will continue it. (NB: not less likely to develop, less likely to need surgery. Slightly different.)

20 years ago I had the opportunity to buy an excellent C200 Merc saloon, only 4,000 miles. Come its first service with me I went to the main dealer who relieved me of north of £1,000. Every after I had 3 Merc maintained at a father and son specialist in a tiny village. Son specialised in post War Mercs and lectured at the University. Dad was trained on Yorks and specialised on prewar.
They would pick up, drop off and loan a banger. Maintenance, including crash damage, respray etc on cars approaching 15 years old just £1,600.
Same dealership now 5 years warranty and fixed price service £25/m.

Just been relieved of $$$$ for plumbing repair. Took only 3 1/2 hours including removing sink and cabinets holding it. [-X
An eye watering amount on an hourly basis. :-o
Very, very small bonus...while waiting for other plumber to show I got the one to clear a drain in a fixture they were working on.
Still have to have large hole in tile shower repaired and new cabinet, sink, and mirror replaced in other bath. ~X(
Still awaiting determination of coverage from insurance company. ~X(

You ought to research that a bit further in case the reason is because death occurs before the cataracts develop to the point of needing surgery.

There was research done by a tobacco company many years ago where they were trying to show that smokers were not a burden on the health service. It turns out they were correct, because most smokers with health conditions died relatively young, whereas non smokers tended to live longer and need more hospital care for various age-related ailments.

I have had surgery on both eyes. Left one done first back in '17 and the right one two years later. (I think)

Surgery was most neccessary in my case. Otherwise I would now be totally blind in the left eye and quite possibly the right also.

In all those pictures I didn't see the dock or the jury seating.

EA. as I said elsewhere, you can get some Easter eggs and buns all year round, crackers and fireworks too. Thankfully, with lockdown, fireworks seem more limited.

At our previous home. Two big hotels were popular wedding venues. A 20 minutes extravaganza of fireworks and rockets was a weekly event.

Why are Inoculation Certificates, an international nomenclature of many years standing, suddenly being called Vaccination Passports?

Edited to ask, why did we call them 'Jab Cards' in the service?

No FT at the newsagent, only the Daily Mail, so bought that. Much later Mrs OFSO reported "the idiots" printed yesterday's TV guide in it. Much much later Mr OFSO noticed it was yesterday's paper, which presumably didn't arrive yesterday but did today. Very difficult to blame The French for this but I'm trying hard.
