Re: Rant of the Day v2.
The tax people don't pay interest they only charge it. Know that for a fact.. About ten years ago a mate was accused of not declaring his earnings correctly for many years and was told to deposit £28k with the tax man until the true amount of the error was determined, after about 6 months it was proven to the tax man that all earnings had been filed correctly and the tax man had made the mistake. Tax man agreed but when asked to pay interest on the £28k, refused stating the revenue did not pay interest..

1DC, no, they do pay interest
If you pay more than you owe. HMRC will usually pay interest on your refund from either: when the tax was due. when you paid the tax, if you paid after the due date.
HMRC late payment and repayment interest rates. The current late payment and repayment interest rates applied to the main taxes and duties that HMRC currently charges and pays interest on are: late payment interest rate - 3.25% from 21 August 2018. repayment interest rate - 0.5% from 29 September 2009.21 Aug 2018

I have an interesting collection of stones, just waiting to see if one bleeds
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Interesting because the late payment rates is lower than a bank overdraft, and the repayment interest is higher than many bank accounts pay. One of my 'savings' account with NatWorst pays 0.5%

Hmm. Thanks for that PN I will tell my friend, it is at least 10 years since his problem but he may want to go back to them and try for interest.

1DC, the tables have the rates all the way back. I think in my case they coughed up without prompting, maybe he didn't notice or remember, but as they say, don't ask, don't want, don't want, don't get.
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I did a UK self assessment tax return for the first time last year and calculated the amount I had to pay, when I got the bill the amount owed was within £2 of what I had expected. What I had not expected was that they would want 150% of what was due in January with 50% going "on account", and another 50% in July.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I also did mine for the first time last year and as the income was less than the personal allowance I thought, correctly as it turned out, that there would be nothing to pay. My pension payer tells me how much to declare and passes the same figure to HMRC, despite that fact that I deduct recipient's bank charges so my declaration is less. I expect Any Time Real Soon, i.e. after this year's declaration, to be asked by HMRC about the difference.

Just a weekend at a secondary family residence and a chance to see some relatives. On my next A320 flight I would ask for that seat.Ex-Ascot wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 1:45 pmRiS, yes very funny, what are you doing in Corfu? Being a tourist or what? Next time you fly ask for the bomb aimer's position. Much better view.Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 9:33 amEx A I hope you did so in writing.
Why when I store my camera away from my seat on a plane, I get the best landscape.
The rant: The local large airline a proud member of star alliance only hires it seems females for cabin crew. It seems to me they are chosen mainly on not to be attractive to Slasher or me.

Try out FlyNas in Sandy Arabia RiS. I'm sure there has to be pilot input to its final selection process for hosties. Almost all the girls have big juicy ones!Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:15 pmThe rant: The local large airline a proud member of star alliance only hires it seems females for cabin crew. VietJet stewardesses in Nam cater for the selective connoisseur of fine ass and legs though boobs are lacking.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
As it's the first anniversary of my MILs death, we went to the reservoir where we deposited her ashes (and her husband and sisters) last year in September, for a very brief remembrance. At exactly the same spot on the reservoir side. But I forgot. Last year in September it was at 25% capacity. Currently almost full. Even the lower periphery track is about 50' under water and a considerable distance out. Never mind, it's the thought that counts.

Slasher, I don't remember the ladies of the Kingdom to be that significantly endowed. I am sure they weren't otherwise I would remember. at the same time a Moroccan lady CC on Gulf Air flight who once gave the best topping up life jacket demo I have ever seen. A reason to re-enforce me watching the safety demo - to catch a re-run.Slasher wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 11:50 pmTry out FlyNas in Sandy Arabia RiS. Agreed about Nam ladies.
OFSO I thought that because of climate change it would have been less rainfall.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Every year since 1993 the reservoir has been full to the maximum at some time in the year, without exception. However the date in the year this happens varies widely. In 2019 we started with the maximum. Many years after a dry winter the year starts almost empty but the reservoir fills up by March or April.

RiS they're all from Morocco Jordan Syria and Ejjip. No Saudis. A couple I would guess from Eastern Europe. The high proportion of hostie numbers with big tits lead me to assume pilot input is part of the selection process.Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:49 pmSlasher, I don't remember the ladies of the Kingdom to be that significantly endowed. Wasted £15 on a dog whistle.
First couple of times is worked a treat, peep and the dog comes running. Now, get whistle out of pocket and dog comes running. Any piece of cheap bling would have done.
