Comparing the paintings of the riots of the Paris Commune, around1790, with the media photos of this weekend's protests, one notices a salient difference. The thuggish men were there, the armoured defenders of the peace, just the same people although differently dressed, and even a woman, not carrying a sword on top of the barricades but up a traffic light, carrying a tricolour, however: in the paintings of the 1790 protests the woman had at least one and frequently two buxom breasts exposed. Today ? No. Not an authentic Parisian manifestation in my humble opinion.
The french ladies had a healthy understanding and relation with their breasts although they are not as well endowed as the British ones. Unfortunately in the last few years they do tend to cover their assets - those who live in the land of frogs.

Rolls-Royce has won an order from Delta Air Lines for Trent 7000 engines to power ten Airbus aircraft. The order also includes Rolls-Royce’s flagship TotalCare long term service support. The Trent 7000 is the latest member of the successful Rolls-Royce Trent engine family and the exclusive powerplant for the A330neo. The announcement brings the total number of Delta Air Lines Trent 7000-powered A330neos to 35, following an order for 25 aircraft in 2014. The Trent 7000 brings together more than 50 million flying hours of experience from the Trent 700, which powers the original version of the A330. The 68-72,000lb thrust Trent 7000 will deliver a step change in performance and economics compared to the Trent 700. Benefiting from a bypass ratio double that of its predecessor, the Trent 7000 will improve specific fuel consumption by 10% and will significantly reduce noise. The order continues a longstanding relationship between Rolls-Royce and Delta Air Lines, which also operates Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Boeing 717 aircraft that are powered by the Trent XWB, Trent 800 and BR715 engines respectively.

I've held them for so long that I am sure that they are of substantially more worth than when I acquired them, and I have had dividends. They are part of a portfolio and I must admit that I don't track very closely the individual components. I have got rid of tobacco and other unethical holdings but other than that I very rarely instruct the portfolio managers as I am sure they are making a better job of managing than I could.

This is SO damned annooying
Agree, like all the little labels that are stuck to just about everything one buys these days. I know that the glue is designed to stop 'label-swapping' in the shop, but most are impossible to remove, despite various Label Dissolving products, that don't work. I once bought a 12 piece crockery dining set, and every last cup and saucer had a label stuck to it. I made the cashier remove them all before I would pay. I was not popular with her or the waiting queue. Stuff it.

Try WD40 (if you can get it in NZ).

We have a can of label remover. Works well but you need doors and windows open when using it. And the next day also.

When applying haemorrhoid cream to your anus and Deep Heat cream to a strained back, do it in that order, not the other way around.

OFSO, that reminds me of a duty trip to the USA when a colleague on the morning after the night before, stumbled bleary-eyed into the bathroom and reached into his washbag for his toothpaste, squeezed out some paste and proceeded to brush his teeth. There followed much spitting, cursing and swearing as apparently Preparation-H applied to ones gums is not pleasant first thing of a morning.

Probably not as bad as the story of the two gay gentlemen who applied Vicks Vapour Rub instead of Vaseline.

Deep Heat seems to resist all attempts to wash it off your hand after massaging a painful eg back. In my case it wasn't haemorrhoids that I washed next but my private parts. The effect of having a miniscule amount of DH on my hand was comparable to plunging my scrotum into a bowl of ice cubes and then into the fire, as anyone who has used the DH cream will appreciate (or who has made love to an Innuit lady in the depths of winter will know.)

Chop chilli, then wash hands BEFORE and after taking a leak. Doctor, can you take away the pain, but leave the swelling?

The application of Veet to certain parts of the body can be a bit of a risk...allegedly.

Been without internet access for a couple of days, Johnson's baby oil is also good for removing labels.

Rant, why do so many films, documentaries and public info broadcasts include background music which makes it hard to follow the plot. Worst case experienced the other day on Air Mauritius. The music accompanying the safety brief totally drowned the message.

I don't even watch USAmerican films as I find the background noise so irritating, particularly as it surges at 'dramatic' moments and drowns the speech.

I detest 'music' in restaurants and had an interesting incident yesterday. We had lunch at one of the LGW eateries (upstairs at Nicholas Culpepper's in TN landside) whilst waiting for a flight. I asked the waitress if the noise coming from a loudspeaker over our heads could be turned down and she said she would 'ask the manager'. It was turned down but then crept up again. I repeated the request to another waiter and he said 'most people like it'. I asked him if they had actually asked 'most people' and he said 'no, but the staff like it and I like it'.

I said that with the greatest of respect to him and the staff, the place should be run for the customers, not the staff. I then got up and asked a few other people seated in the same area if they liked it. Out of about 10 people, 5 said they didn't like it, 2 said 'it's everywhere so you can't do anything about it', one said he liked it and it wasn't loud, and the others just shrugged and didn't want to get involved. Apathy rules.

However, the music was turned OFF. Normally I walk out but there the only 'choice' was the ghastly 'Jamies' sandwich stand.

Label removal chez nous usually involves Sticky Stuff Remover. We buy it from Lakeland Plastics, but it's made in Florida (orange oil, I think) so should be pretty widely available.
